⚡️Asher's Pov⚡️
I didn't understand why Annie just took off like that. Did I say something to offend her? Maybe she wanted to get to class in time and not get detention? Was there something on my jersey? Did she see someone? Was it-
My thoughts were interrupted by that darn bell, signaling that first period was about to start. I raced off to class, where I joined Annie in the back. I planned on asking her if everything was okay, but then our teacher announced a pop quiz. Great.
I tried talking to her all day, but it was as if the universe was all, "Not today big shot".
I could have joined her at lunch, but I had basketball practice.
When I got home I decided to text her.
Take that universe!

Me:
Hey, you seemed kind of distant today. Is everything all right?
Her:
Meet me at the park in 10 minutes

I arrived at the park just in time. It was only five minutes away from my house. I saw Annie sitting on a swing, looking down.
I joined her.
"Mind explaining what happened today?" I asked.
She took a deep breath.
"Fine."
"You know how I had a brother Caleb, right?" She asked.
I nodded my head yes.
"Well, he played baseball, and he was a number seven as well. When I saw the same number on your jersey, I just felt a rush of deja vu. I'm just scared you'll leave me too." At this point, she was weeping. I got up and embraced her in a hug, reassuring her.
I wiped away her tears and cupped her face in my hand.
""Hey, look at me. I will never leave you. I promise." I told her.
We held onto each other for what seemed like forever. I just wished we could stay like this forever.
We ended up staying at the park till 9, goofing off.
I dropped Annie at her house at the end of the day.
"Thank you for making me smile when i thought I wouldn't be able to Ash." She said.
She pecked my cheek, making me turn bright red. She giggled.
"Goodnight Asher." She said.
"Goodnight munchkin." I managed to reply.
