It was their last full day together. Kevin was booked on a flight home the following morning at eleven o'clock. He had to make the most of their final day together. They had breakfast at their favourite café, then spent most of the day at the beach. Instead of going out that night they had takeaway Chinese food in Kevin's unit, then a two hour romp on the bed leaving them both exhausted.
As they lay side by side on the bed Kevin looked across at Jessica. "I can't believe I'll never see you again after tomorrow morning. Sweetie, are you sure we can't....."
Jessica hushed him by putting a finger to his lips. "I told you we can't. Remember we are two ships in the night. We have a fleeting contact, then we sail on to our different destinations, never to meet again. But during these magical moments together we will create memories to last a lifetime. I'll never forget you, Kevin." She moved up to him and held him in a close embrace.
Kevin held onto her like his life depended on her love. Soon he had drifted off to sleep.
Once Jessica heard Kevin's rhythmic breathing she carefully untangled herself from him and walked quietly to the window. Standing to one side she carefully looked out. She could just see a tall man standing on the footpath four floors below looking up at their window. Moving quickly back out of sight she retrieved her phone from her bag and typed a text message.
Sorry about this being such a short chapter, but in the next chapter everything happens and Kevin finally learns the truth!
