Chapter twenty three

Play the song, babies!

As I walk along the corridor, I feel ripped away. My mind is on overdrive and I am thinking up theories about Leo.

What could really be bothering him so much?

I stand near the library as I hear the final bell ring. Students' chattering fills the air and they walk out, ready to head home.

Jennie runs from her class and hugs me. "You have a stayback, right?" She asks as she looks at me.

"Yep. I'll be done by five, it's for a project. Ken is meeting with the teacher to ask permission right now." I inform her.

"Ohhh. Is he your permanent partner for all projects now?" Jennie asks and elbows me.

"It's just that we are good as a team. And we get stuff done. So why not?" I say. I notice Ken walking towards us. He gestures that we are cleared for staying back.

"Okay then, I better get started. See you tomorrow, Jennie!" I say and head inside the library.

I find an empty corner near the Chemistry section and set my bag down.

I go hunting for books on the topic our project is based on. I find three books and go back to my seat.

The sun shines at me through the window to my side and I hear the birds outside.

"Hey! Sorry, I had to get my bag from class." Ken says as he sits down, opposite to me.

"That's okay. I found these books to start off. This book has a section on the experiments in chapter 8. You go through it and write down some notes, okay?" I instruct him and get back to my book.

I write down notes in my notebook and get lost in the work. When I am done with two books, I go back to place them back and take four more books.

As I am carrying back the books, I hear a voice say my name. I shake my head, this side of the library is nearly empty, no one could be here right now.

"Y/N!" This time the voice is loud enough for me to make out who the owner is. Leo.

I turn around to see Leo at a distance, heading towards me.

"Hey! What are you doing here?" He smiles as he places his hand on my shoulder.

"Research for a Chemistry project." I reply softly. "You?" I look at his hand on my shoulder.

"Same." He says. "Ken's calling!" He points to Ken, sitting behind me.

"Ohh yeah. See you!" I say as I turn around. Ken asks for two of the books and we get back to work.

I feel the chair beside me move and I look up from my book to see Leo sit down next to me.

I smile and nod before getting back into my work.

"Ken, did you get any sections on modern application?" I whisper as I lean forward.

Suddenly I feel a warm hand on my thigh. I press my lips together and close my eyes for a second to gain control over myself.

"Yeah, this book has two sections, one with past applications and one with modern." He says and his eyes shift to Leo. Mine too move in the same direction.

Leo smirks as he looks at his book. Ken clenches his jaw and lean back on his chair before looking at me. He shifts his eyes back to the book.

Offf drama! We love some extra drama!

First update of the day, let's see how many I write today before I exhaust my creativity.
