Chapter two

Play the song, babies!

I go to my door and lock it. I hold back my smile as I turn around. "Hey Leo!"

"Heya!" The tall cutie says as he hugs me. "Ready to go?"

I nod as we climb out the window with our shoes in our hands. I close the window and follow Leo along the usual path. We climb onto the tree near the roof and go down.

Silently, we sneak out the small door on the wall joining my house to the near by river bank.

We put on our shoes and run to our tree house near the calm river. We pull the curtains together and close the door before switching on the solar light.

"This never gets old does it?" He comments as we sit facing each other in the small wooden compartment.

"No. It never will. So how was school?" I ask as place face in my hands.

"I guess it was fine. Twelfth portions are so much more fun than eleventh portions. I swear eleventh swallowed me whole." He says as he leans back onto the wall.

"I agree. Even though I don't know exactly what the twelfth portions are." I laugh as stretch my feet in front of me.

"Jeez, your so short." He comments as he pats my head.

"I am not that short." I pout.

"Sure. Sure." He smiles as he pinches my cheeks.

Leo is my senior from high school. But we have known each other since we were children. We began this weekly night habit during the prior summer vacation because Leo's parents weren't letting him out due to school.

"Oh and Hana was totally hitting on me today during the lunch break." He says as his eyes light up with excitement.

"Oh please! You're delusional. She is too hot to care about you." I respond.

"No, seriously, we were given this pair activity and she chose me ... and then she invited me to her house and then winked at me." He imitates her in a coy manner.

"Ohhhhh. Damn. Congratulations!" I say as I pat his shoulders.

"Thank you! Thank you!" He smiles wide. "Oh before I forget, did you eat anything for dinner?" He looks at me seriously.

"Yeah. Hmm ... I had ... rice ... with curry." I lie through my teeth knowing how worried he got about this.

"Oh really? I don't believe you. Jennie told me you skipped lunch today too." He says, his dark eyes shining against his pale skin.

"When? She was with me the whole time." I comment quickly.

"When we were walking home. We both had stayback sessions today so we walked back together. You really need to start eating properly." He says, a little pain in his voice.

"I just had a heavy breakfast." I say my go to lie.

"Lies. You look tired all the time at school. If you had eaten properly, you would not have." He says as he puts his arms around me.

"Stop doing this to yourself, Y/N!" He says into my ear, his chin brushing my cheeks. "It's not worth it.

It is. It has to be. To me, it means that much. I want say all these to you, Leo but I can't, the argument will never end. I don't want to ruin your mood.

I close my eyes as he hugs me tightly. "Eat something when you get home. Okay?"

"Okay." I whisper, feeling guilty because I know I won't.

"Woah! It's twelve already. We should get going." Leo says as he checks his watch. We get down from the tree house and he escorts me to my room.

I look as he climb down and head to his house a just a few houses away and then close the window.

I unlock my door and head to bed, feeling tired, empty and guilty.
