leafpaw sighed as she gazed up at the sky and analyzed the stars. it had been an entire moon since she had seen mistpaw due to leafpaw not being allowed to go to the gathering. for some reason, mistpaw couldnt get off of her mind lately. every thought seemed to be about her, which had ended up making leafpaw too distracted to train properly, causing foxwing to scold her after every session. she wanted to go to the river, but she was forced to stay in camp as part of her punishment. maybe theres a way to go out...
leafpaw stood up and slowly made her way to the entrance of the den, careful not to wake her denmates. once she was out of the den, she looked around the entrance, trying to think of something that would distract the cats guarding it. noticing a rock, she picked it up and tossed it out the entrance and over the cats, making a noise when it landed in a bush. although she couldnt here the cats, she knew they were talking about the noise. as they went to go check it out, she slipped out of the entrance and ran to the river.
as the river came into view, she seen a white and gray cat on the other side of it. mistpaw? she hoped it was her, but as she got closer to the river, the hope died as she seen it was moonpaw that was there instead.
' ' why are you so close to the river? ' ' leafpaw hissed at moonpaw as she finally arrived to the river, ' ' please tell me you arent thinking of swimming. ' '
moonpaw rolled his eyes, and said, ' ' it doesnt seem like you were saying that when my sister was here. ' '
' ' that was because she had been nice to me and she was collecting herbs, fish-brain, ' ' leafpaw growled at moonpaw. she made eye contacted for a split second with him and noticed there was a bit of jealousy that clouded in his eyes.
' ' what brings you here anyways? ' ' leafpaw looked at the tom, suspicious.
' ' hunting on my own, ' ' moonpaw replied.
' ' this late at night? ' ' leafpaw asked, doubting that was the real reason he was out here.
' ' yep. honestly, its none of your business now that i think about it,' ' moonpaw spat, ' ' im on my own territory. what i do here is none of your business, nosey fish-face. ' '
leafpaw was taken aback by the quick change in moonpaws attitude. ' ' jeez, which invisible cat just fed you crowfood? ' '
moonpaw snorted in response, making leafpaw confused. ' ' whats wrong with you? why are you acting like this? youre laughing one minute and the next youre rude. ' '
' ' why would you ask? Its not if you would care, ' ' hurt flashed in moonpaws eyes as he looked at the river.
leafpaw didnt know what to say. in all honesty, she didnt know why she had asked in the first place. so she shrugged.
' ' thats it? ' ' moonpaw hissed, ' ' thats all youre going to do? shrug? ' '
leafpaw looked away from the thunderclan tom, feeling awkward. moonpaw scoffed and turned away, making his way back into his clans territory. leafpaw sighed in relief.
