"Why did you want to talk to me Brendan?"
The cute-boy-who-did-my-makeup had led me into a small enclosed room, at the far end of the warehouse. He played with his fingers while swinging around in his office chair next to me.
"I know what you are."
".. well I am a girl, yes I think thats a secret," I sarcastically replied.
"You're more than just a girl. I know that. Don't make it difficult to explain!"
"Who said I wanted you to explain, huh?"
He sighed and rubbed his forehead, "I mean I know who you really are. An angel that is. You were really Jade Wilson from Massachusetts, and you died because of a car accident."
I was stunned to death. How'd he know?! Why is he here? How the-?
"Jade, I'm one too. I just-.. didn't really want to reveal myself to you back Home."
The more older, much more experienced angels had control of who they saw, and who saw them. But at the moment I'm just wondering how on earth did he get here!
I sighed, "Did Father send you as well to help me on this 'thing'?" I airquoted 'thing' so that if he was lying, at least I didn't reveal anything!
"Well-Um.. well yes, sort of. He kinda just told me to get down here. No surprise there I guess..."
For an experienced angel, I must say he was seriously relaxed. And cute. All the Old Angels I have met were all old and shrivelled up!
"I got something else to tell you. You're must be wondering why I am different from the other Old Angels aren't you?"
I nodded. He continued solemnly, "Jade, I'm your brother."
"WHAT?! No way, I was the only child! YOU BLUFF! GET OUT NOW! WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU ARE!" I shouted angrily. I had no idea what I was thinking, and what I was doing, but shouting at him made sense at the time.
"Please calm down.. Please? I need to explain."
He was expecting me to calm down? Please, suggest a reason why I should/can calm down. Finding out some random dude is your 'brother' after what, supposedly 16/17 years?!
"You have 30 seconds to talk, or else I will officially rip your finger off."
He huffed. "Mom had a boyfriend in college, she got pregnant, and here I am. I died as a baby though."
I gasped. How could she not have told me? I studied his pleading face and natural puppy dog eyes. He had the same striking green irises as me and my mom had, the same strong jaw line and cheek bones. He did look like my mom a lot. I miss her like hell...
I didn't know I started tearing up, but when Brendan's hands wiped of a tear at the tip of my chin, then I realised. How much I missed my mom. My dad. My family.
"Who- Ehum. Do you know who your d-dad is?" I asked.
He nodded. "Gary Vickers. Football quarterback for high school and college, now has a family based in Texas. Two daughters and a son slightly younger than you, and his wife, is a news anchor for some local radio station."
"So w-wait, how old are you?" I questioned. If I was alive, I would be 17. Mom was 25 when she had me, and she got out of college at 21.
His lips twitched a little in the corners. "I'm 22."
"Ohh..."
"So are you gonna give your newfound brother a hug?" He smirked, opening his arms wide. Even though I barely knew him, I ran into his arms and squished him with a hug I desperately craved these days. He patted my back a little as I cried a little more, making his black v-neck shirt slightly damp by his shoulder. Jesus, he's tall.
