Unfortunately whether that's true or not will have to remain a secret for now!

Waking up in my own bed, I slowly checked my back, the wings were gone.

Sighing deeply in relief, I clutched my necklace.

I looked over at Nina's bed, which was empty. Opening the curtains, I realized it was dark outside now. How long have I been out?

I reached for my phone and saw the date. It's been an entire day since I left Patrick's. Scrolling through a few texts from Nina, I started to worry less about whatever's going on with me that requires an entire day of sleep and started to wonder about her whereabouts.

While dialing her number I started to feel really nervous, it didn't help that my call went straight to voicemail.

I texted Patrick that I needed to talk to him and Wyatt.

Pacing around the room until they arrived didn't seem to help my nerves, but I couldn't seem to get myself to stop either.

The boys knocked on the door and I opened it, motioning for them to enter.

"Have either of you seen Nina?" I asked.

"No, no one has seen her since yesterday." Wyatt said.

Oh, god.

"She wouldn't just leave without telling me. When I didn't come home from the library, she freaked out on me." I said.

"I'll text Morghan and ask her to come over. Maybe she knows something." Wyatt said.

Patrick was sitting on my bed with furrowed brows.

"What is it?" I asked him.

"She was really nervous when I picked you up." He said.

That I knew. God, I wish I hadn't bloody ignored that feeling that something was up with her.

"We should call the police." I decided.

"No" they both said in unison, far too quickly for my liking.

"What?! It's been 24 hours since anyone has seen her. We have to call them!" I shouted in exasperation.

"You might want to sit down for this." Wyatt said.

"We've been trying not to completely overwhelm you, but there's something you should know." Patrick said.

I sat at my desk chair, biting my nails.

I made an annoyed motion for them to continue.

"There are a lot more supernaturals here than you think. The more supernatural beings that are in one area, the more that are drawn here. Since this place has been around for centuries, run by vampires... well, let's just say that humans are more of a minority here than you might think." Wyatt said.

Cops are out of the question then.

"So you're saying Nina is a supernatural?" I asked.

It isn't even relevant, but it calmed me down a little.

If she's a supernatural, that means she has powers. So hopefully that also means that she isn't in any major trouble, that she was able to defend herself.

"Yes. I'm sure she would have told you at some point, but she's a siren." Patrick answered.

I blinked. "Siren- like a mermaid?" I blurted out before my brain could stop me.

"It's a little more complicated than that. Sirens can control people with their voices by singing melodies. She changes into a mermaid at will, rather than on the full moon or with contact with water." Wyatt said.
