Closing the door to my room, I rested with my back against it. Feeling the emptiness, I turned on the lamp on my bedside table.
Henry would be here in a few hours, so I should at least make an effort to get some sleep. I laid in bed, reading Nina's journal until I drifted off. At first, reading her journal seemed like an invasion of privacy. Although if I could find more clues to find Nina, it would be worth it.
Ardeeeen... a gentle voice sang through my sleep.
Aaaarden. Wake up. The voice sang again.
I was definitely awake this time.
Arden. Please wake up.
"Hello?" I called out into the night.
Arden! It's me, Nina!
"What?! Where are you?" I asked.
I don't know. Come find me... she sang eerily.
"Nina? How can I hear you?" I asked, afraid to find out the answer.
I can make my voice travel wherever I want. I want you to find me.
"How am I supposed to do that?" I asked
Follow my voice... I'll help you
Yeah, that sounds pretty creepy Nina. I need help.
I texted the gang to meet me in my room.
"Did someone take you?" I asked her.
Not entirely... she responded cryptically.
What does that mean?
Knocks at the door made me jump out of my skin.
I opened the door and put my finger to my mouth to let them know to be quiet.
Hopefully she didn't hear them knock.
I typed on my phone 'Nina is talking to me somehow. Not sure it's her, feels like a trap.' And showed it to them.
Everyone exchanged looks of confusion and uncertainty.
"What do you want me to do?" I asked.
Morghan can hear me... even when you and the others can't. Hi, Morghan.
Tears welled up in her eyes "oh god, please tell me you aren't dead."
Not entirely... she sang again.
What the hell does that mean?!
"She says to go to the stables, but to stay quiet and keep a low profile." Morghan said in a low voice.
"Why?" Wyatt and Patrick whispered at the same time.
Morghan just shook her head and opened the door.
Wyatt stepped in the front of our group and whispered "I'll take the front, you take the back" to Patrick.
Patrick whispered to me "we can see in the dark, so we'll guide the group to the stables."
I just nodded and locked step with Morghan.
As we walked through the dim corridors, the hair on the back of my neck started to stand on end. I stiffened.
I looked at the rest of the group, but it was too dark to make out their faces.
"It feels like someone's watching us." I whispered to Morghan.
"What?" She whispered back, linking my arm with hers.
"Lately I've been feeling like someone is watching me. I feel it again now." I said.
