Skye’s POV
I glanced at the silver clock on my wall for the hundredth time. I had been nervous all afternoon. What if Niall had decided to bring one of the other boys? He had kept his promise on the number though, why should he break his promise on this? 3 quick raps on the door startled me out of my worries. I opened the door to find him standing at the door, his blonde hair ruffled into a small quiff, with a small box in his hand. Thankfully, he was alone.
“Ready Princess?” he asked, reaching his arm out to hook into mine.
“Hey,” I started, “Andy’s out with his friend Josh so if you want to come back here afterwards and watch a movie we can.”
“I’d love that,” he chirped. “Now come on, you have to try Nandos.”
I was quickly pulled into a black Audi 8. As we drove down the street, I couldn’t help but comment on the car.
“Nice ride.”
A look of guilt passed over his face before he said,
“Yeah, I may or may not have borrowed from Harry. Without asking.”
“Nialler! You little thief! I’m sure he won’t miss it though. He probably has other cars,” I chuckled.
As soon as I let out that small laugh I could see him relax.
“So, why do you like Nandos so much?” I asked.
He gave me a smirk. “You’ll see when we get there.”

“Ugh,” I groaned. “This is so good!”
“See? I told you!” He chuckled.
“I’ve lived in New York for 7 years. How did I never find this place?” I asked myself, munching on the spicy fires in front of me.
“I don’t know. So, are we friends now?” He asked tentatively.
“Of course! How can I not be your friend after you’ve showed me this amazing restaurant?” I joked, slapping his shoulder.
He looked relieved. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a small red box about the size of a credit card.
“Good, because now I can give you this.”
Handing the box over to me, I opened it to see a black card with the Nandos logo on the front.
“That,” he started, “Is a Nandos black card. Only given to celebrities, it grants you free food whenever you come here in return for the publicity of a star being seen at the restaurant.”
“Awesome! Thank you Niall!” I shouted, and gave him a hug. He wrapped his arms around me and brought me closer to him. Finally releasing, I said, “So do you want to go back to my place now and we can watch a movie?”
“I’d love to.” He replied giving me a warm smile and leading me back towards the car. “But wait a second. I want you to know that by being my friend, you’re going to be around the other boys a lot, especially Harry.”
“I know, I don’t mind though, I like hanging out with you, even if it means I have to see Harry once in a while,” I reassured him.
“Cool.”
He led me out to the car, opening the door for me. What a gentleman.

Niall’s POV
Wow, this girl is greater than I thought. No wonder Louis and Harry like her. I’m glad I can get to know her on this level; she really has a lot more to her than what everyone thinks. I can see her eyes sparkle when she talks about Andy and how they lose a bit of light when her family or her life before New York is mentioned. I know she moved here when she was 12, but I don’t know much else. Maybe I should try to ask her. An overload of thoughts ran through my head as I helped her out of the car and up to her porch.
She pulled me through the door and led me to the black leather couch in the living room. I gladly sat down and waited for her to come out of the kitchen with popcorn. After a few pops and some rustling, she came down the hallway with two gigantic bowls of buttery goodness.
“Hey Skye? If you and Andy are so rich, why do you have such a small and quaint house?” I asked.
“We wanted it to remind us that we were normal people just like anyone else. We didn’t want a huge home if we didn’t need it,” she replied. “What movie do you want to watch?”
“Finding Nemo!”
“Haha!” she chuckled. “You’re so childish.”
I let out a laugh and popped the DVD into the player. The title soon filled the screen and we were watching the barracuda scene.
“It’s actually pretty sad that the mom and all of the little siblings were killed by a predator. She couldn’t even do anything about it,” I muttered absentmindedly. A small sniffle came from beside me. I looked down to see that Skye was crying beside quietly. Quickly finding the remote and pausing the movie, I pulled her into my lap. I laid her delicate head on my shoulder and let her sob into my t-shirt.
“Hey, shhh. What’s wrong princess?” I whispered into her ear, gently smoothing out her blonde locks. “Is it something that I said?” A slight shift in her head told me that it was.
“Oh my gosh I’m so sorry Skye. What did I say? Or was it something that I said earlier and you are just now thinking about it? Oh my gosh I’m so sorry. Why do I always f*ck everything up? I don’t even know what I said but it’s probably still bad enough to make you want me to leave and never see you again. Andy’s gonna kill me for making you cry. I’m so sor-“ My rambles were cut off by a clapped hand over my mouth. I looked down to see Skye, her tears dried but still visible in the dim lighting of the room.
“Niall. It’s not your fault. You didn’t say anything bad. Just triggered some bad memories,” she sniffled, carefully pulling her hand off of my mouth.
Taking a deep breath, she started, “I had just moved here with my Mom, my Dad, and my sister Lexi when I got my driver’s permit. I was allowed to drive, but only if I had a parent in the car and we were driving during the day. It was really bright out, a summer day, and my mom had asked me to run to the store to get some eggs. I was so excited to go by myself and my little sister Lexi wanted to come with, saying she didn't want to hear our parents fighting, as our parents fought a lot. So me, being stupid decided to bring her with me. No harm right?"
---------------------------------------
AHHH! He called her princess! Twice! CUE THE FANGIRLING! But yeah, that was kinda sad to write about her crying. And a cliffhanger! Well kinda, I thought that it would be better to leave it there and start back up in Skye’s POV in the next chapter with a flashback or something. So yeah. What’d you guys think? I’ll put a pic on the side of what Niall wore to their “date”. Also, like I said in the last chapter, if you read the author’s note, I have never been to New York so I don’t know if there’s a Nandos or what the driving permit rules are so please don’t hold it against me. Thanks!
