Out of all things Shay could be doing on a Weekend, the last thing she thought herself to be doing would be sitting at the library. Although exams had finished and university application had been sent out and accepted, Shay decided to sit down-really sit down and think about stuff. She wanted to research the universities that had accepted her and decide on which one had the better desired course.
Shay decided to do the googling in the library to give her the chance to find out everything herself. She didn't want Alex's opinion nor Tristan's as he was currently at her place. Sure she had seen the courses when her parents sent them through, but she barely knew what they offered.
First on her list was the University of London. From what Shay new, it was big, publicised and overall, a really good school. As she began browsing through the undergraduate courses, the chair shifted beside her. Shay looked up at the person who was somewhat oblivious to her presence.
She watched as the dark headed boy retrieved books from his bag and started to tap away with his pen whilst waiting for his computer to turn on. Shay still continued to stare and wait for him to notice her. Another minute went by and the boy had opened up word on his computer and turned to open one of his books. It wasn't until then that his eyes landed on Shay.
He smiled at her first and then did a double take, finally realising who it was.
"Shay!" He said as the realisation seemed to sink in.
"Evan." She said completely flabbergasted that it took him that long to notice her.
"Didn't see you there." He said before turning back to opening his book.
"Sorry, I just-" He looked up at Shay. "I really didn't see you, I've had around three hours of sleep in the past few days. Late application submissions are all I've been doing." He rubbed at his left eye, making the bags under them predominantly stand out.
"Late submissions?" Shay asked, last time her and Evan spoke about universities together she was sure that he had a plan, that he had sent out a couple of applications.
"Yeah," He cleared his throat. "I was a dipshit, and only applied to one. I thought I'd get it." He peered over to Shay's screen, flicking his eyes over the website. "I knew you'd get into one of the big ones." He smiled, making Shay feel terribly guilty that she had gotten into more than one. She wished she could give one of her unwanted spots to him.
"You can as well." Shay pursed up in her seat.
"Only the good ones that allow late applications. Plus, the personal essays that most of them require have to be amazing. I have to make an impression, if not, then no consideration, no university, no good job, no life basically." He coughed out.
"Good thing English is my strong suit then." Shay dragged her chair closer to his computer and flicked through the pages of the book that Evan had open.
"You don't have to help me, I mean, I know you don't particularly like me any ways-"
"We're friends now Evan. Besides, I don't really have anything better to do and you kind of really need my help. You just scraped by in English on a C." Evan huffed in agreement as Shay started coming out with a million ideas.
"So, you have......" Shay was scrolling down Evans computer screen a moment later looking at all the universities that he had compiled. "Around three that you can apply to."
"Three? Shay but there's like twelve-"
"Three that I'm allowing you to apply for. You aren't that thick. You can get into a well respected university if you really tried. Which is what we're trying for. Okay, so now the personal essay. I'm thinking we could write about some of the things that you're good at, and maybe that time that your little brother broke his leg while skiing and you carried him all the way back to the cabins-"
