GOLDEN PETALS FLUTTERED past the windows of Luke's Diner, falling from the thousands of daisies that had been scattered across the small town of Stars Hollow. Looking up from the table she was wiping down, Brandi stared out to the colour-painted town in awe.

The story of how they got to town had been the subject of the hushed chatter that came with the early morning rush hour, and word was that the flowers had been a gift to one of Stars Hollow's beloved residents, Lorelai Gilmore— in fact, Brandi had overheard Babette tell Miss Patty that they came in tow with a proposal. The mere thought of someone going through all that effort to tell a person they love them had Brandi's heart swooning.

"Hey," Brandi glanced to the voice of her father, Luke, who pointed a rag in her direction and said, "less looking, more cleaning."

"But, have you seen what's outside?" she asked, gesturing to the windows, "It's so pretty!"

Luke shrugged, "Probably just another one of Taylor's shenanigans."

Brandi held her tongue, simply nodding in response. She wasn't sure if her father had heard about the ins and outs of the daisies arrival, but she was quite certain that she didn't want to be the one to tell him. On many occasions Brandi had noticed her father's longing looks towards their loyal, coffee-crazed customer, but she had never took it upon herself to find out what they meant for she didn't want to upset him.

Speak of the devil, Brandi thought as the door to the diner swung open and in stepped Lorelai and her daughter, Rory, who both hurried to a table cornered by two windows, chatting among themselves.

Brandi made a start to go over and greet them, but halted midway as townsfolk began gathering by the entrance of the diner, pressing up against the glass.

"Mom, go tell him," she heard Rory say as she inched towards them with her brows shot high.

"I will," said Lorelai, glancing up from her menu and smiling as Brandi approached. "Hey, honey."

She returned the gesture as she pulled up a chair opposite the two, her voice hushed as she said, "I heard about the flowers and proposal, and it's just all so romantic, congratulations!"

"Aw, thank you, Brandi," she said.

"But, um . . ." her gaze flicked from the mother and daughter to the growing crowd outside the diner. "Did you guys get famous overnight or something? Because if so, I'd love an autograph."
