It has been a week since Archie and I got together, we spent every moment we could together. Kevin and Veronica have been pestering me to tell them about Archie and I. So, I decide to text them to meet me at Pop's and that I'll let them know about it there.

I wait for their replies, I do some homework and look out the window to see if Archie was there, but I find his room empty. Maybe he is out in the garage playing his guitar. I hear my phone's notification go off and I unlock it. Both Kevin and Veronica have texted me that they'll meet me at the diner. I glance at the watch, its still four, so I decide to take a shower before heading out.

On my way to Pop's, I feel as if someone was following me. I keep turning around, but don't see anyone. It must be all in my mind, right? The walk to Pop's is a good fifteen minutes from home, but I reach within ten since I walked faster today. When I enter, I see them sitting on the last booth towards my left but first, I greet Pop.

"How you doing today, Betty?" The sweet old man asks me.

"I'm doing great, Pop. How about you?"

"Just might fine, Betty. Mighty fine." He says with a smile, "You go on, take a seat, I'll get you your regular."

"Thanks, Pop." I say to him and make my way towards the booth.

"Hey, guys." I say while taking off my jacket and sitting down across the both of them.

"Tell us!" Kevin says, leaning forward with his elbows on the table.

"Okay, so that day. Archie came up to me at school, I was on the bl-"

"Bleachers, yes we know that. What did he say?" Kevin cuts me off.

"He told me that he loves me. He said even though I wasn't ready to be with him yet, that he'd wait for me. But I didn't want him to wait any longer. Him telling me that he loved me is all that mattered." I tell them.

"I'm happy for you, Betty. You deserve to be happy after everything you've been through." Veronica says to me while she holds my hand.

"Thanks, V." I say to her, smiling.

"So," Kevin was about to say something, but stopped when Pops brought my order to the table.

"Here you go, Betty, Enjoy." He places the food on the table and walks back to the counter.

"What were you saying, Kevin?" I say while putting a french fry in my mouth.

He smirks, "Have you and Archie, you know?"

"What?" I ask, clearly confused.

"Have you had sex?"

I choke on my milkshake, "What? No. We just got together last week. Sex is too soon." I tell him.

"Its never too soon for sex, B," Veronica says and pauses, "What I mean to say is that, you both have loved each other long before y'all even figured out y'all loved one another and also, you know him as a person. I think its perfect time for you two to take the relationship to the next level. You both are an exception."

"You think so, V?" I ask her.

"I do, but its totally up to you and Archie. Moreover, its up to you. Are you ready to let someone in and see you intimately? I know it will be your first time, B." She tells me.

"Yeah, I guess I'll have to think about it." I say.

"Its six, I have go home. My dad's gets home from work soon and I have to take him dinner. I'll see you guys at school." He waves us goodbye and goes over to Pop to make an order.

"You ready to leave?" Veronica asks me.

"Yeah, lets go." I say and put my jacket back on.

Veronica and I talk about some school work while we walk out of the diner, I take out my phone and drop it. Veronica keeps walking, I bend down to pick my phone up when suddenly a car comes speeding towards me with the headlights on.

"Betty, watch out!" Veronica says, but my feet are intact. Why can't I move? I feel a pair of arms around me pulling backwards. The car speeds away, I keep looking at it, its a blue mustang I mentally note, I've seen it around town before. I try to look at the licence plate, but the car is already too far off.

"Betty? Are you alright?" I hear Kevin ask me.

"I'm fine, Kev." I say, "Thanks for that."

"Who was that?" Veronica asks me.

"I have no idea, but I've seen that car before." I say pointing at the direction that the car drove off.

"We need to tell Sheriff Keller," Veronica says, "Kev, can you take care of that? I'll drop Betty home."

"Yeah, I'll tell my dad. Please be safe, guys." He tells us and walks away.

"Why don't you go in and take a seat? I'll call Smithers to pick us up." Veronica says to me.

"No, I think I'll stay out here with you. I need the fresh air to think."

"Alright." She says and takes out her phone.

Smithers stops in front of my house, "Take care, Betty." Veronica says.

"Thank you, V and good night. Good night Smithers." I say to them with a small smile.

"Good night, Miss Cooper." Smithers says to me and drives off.

I quickly make my way into my house without wasting anytime. I almost reach the stairway to go upstairs to my bedroom trying not to be confronted by mother but, "Elizabeth? Where were you?" she says from the living room.

I roll my eyes and turn around, "I was with Veronica and kevin at Pops, mom,"

She walks over to me and stands with her hands on her hips, "I got a call from Sheriff Keller telling me that some mysterious car almost ran over you? Is this true?"

I mentally face palm myself, I should have told Kevin to ask his dad not to tell my mom.
"Yes, mom it is and before you over react, I got the model and color of the car. Its a blue, 1967 Shelby Mustang GT500."

"Is that going to help us find the person who almost killed my daughter?"

"Yes, mom! It might, I've seen that car before in town but I just can't remember where. Mom, I'm tired. Can I go to my room now?" I say fake yawning so that she'd leave me alone. For now.

"Go on, and straight to bed. I don't want you using your phone when I come by later to check up on you!" I hear her shout from the bottom of stairs.
