Music softly soothed Frank's anxiety as he made his way to the bus stop. It was a cold rainy morning, and it couldn't set the mood any better. Usually his mother was the one to take him the first day of school.. his heart sank. But now that he lived with his father, who worked 6 days a week, Frank was bound to have more independence. These anxious thoughts about his future soon left his mind as the large bus rounded the corner coming to a halt at his stop. The bus resembled the kind they had in the U.K, Frank thought. Unlike the charming public buses he had been use to, this bus stood out on the vacant street. Frank didn't like standing out, it made him anxious.
With his grey canvas backpack on one shoulder, his left hand holding onto it securely, Frank ventured into the vehicle. Once in, he quickly noted that barely anyone was on it, This comforted him. Swiftly, he made his way to the back row. Seeing the empty seats made his stomach hurt. He gulped and tried to drown the thought by reaching in his pocket to turn up his music as he sat down. How Soon Is Now by The Smiths began to fill his head, " Ew, fuck Morissey" he recalled, and skipped the song. He didn't really remember why he hated Morissey, someone he once knew just sorta told him to. A few moments later, the next song began. Soma by Smashing Pumpkins slowly entered the background of Frank's point of view as the bus began to start forward. A painful forty minute drive was ahead of him. Rain drops raced down the window as the light drizzle went on. This is how it is in Seattle. He still couldn't get used to it all. This dramatic change in scenery drove him nuts. It's so green here and everyone acts so different. He felt so out of place.
This was all interrupted by the sudden jerk caused by the bus stopping. Frank looked up, and pushed back his long hair as he saw a group of boys get on the bus. One of the three boys came down the isle and sat at on the opposite side of the row. He had moppy brown hair and a couple tattoos. Frank felt a small serge of excitement fluster through him as he touched his scorpion tattoo gingerly, glad that he wasn't the only kids with tats. He had been expecting private school kids to be uptight and mean, which was a small reason why he looked like a stoner in his school uniform, lacking his makeup and piercings he once showed. The sudden memories of this as well as the though of when he had received the tattoo he was still caressing, made him nauseous and caused him to move away his hand and look away from the boy he had accidentally been staring at.
The boy, seemed completely oblivious to Franks unintentional stare. Thank goodness. The last thing Frank needed was for his first impression to be creepy. Glancing to insure that the other young man hadn't noticed Frank, he then went back to window gazing.
After a few more stops the bus finally arrived to the large sophisticated building, of which Frank could only assume was the school. He wasn't very impressed, as the students began to shuffle out of the large vehicle. He paid close attention to the boy who had been across the isl. He seemed friend worthy, but Frank hadn't made new friends since kindergarten. Moving fucking sucks.
As they shuffled out of the bus, Frank felt the chill of the after rain mist, hit his face. The fresh air flooded his lungs as he stepped onto the concrete walk way. He watched as a large group of people walked towards two large doors of which seemed to be the main enterance. He followed, and proceeded to his first class. He noticed yet another tattooed kid, with black straightened hair. Seeing the diversity made him feel a humm of excitement.
Class wasn't too exciting, Frank introduced himself briefly during role call and that proceeded to join the class via the web link on the board, and tried his best to catch up on notes.
After going to his next 4 classes, Frank made his way down to lunch. The school wasn't very hard to navigate through, which was relieving considering how large it was. Once in the cafeteria Frank very quickly noticed the second to last table in the lunch room. Sat there in all there glory was a very small cluster of three alternative kids. One being the boy from the bus, another being the boy from his first class, and the other was a girl Frank had not seen. He wanted to sit with them so desperately, but couldn't collect the courage to introduce himself.
