I was still very curious about who this Knight was and why the Neos appeared, but it was obvious that my mom didn't want to say more so I just kept most to myself and had a great idea to write all the questions I could come up with so I could ask my history teacher next class.
I grabbed a sheet of paper, a pen and some ink and began with the first question. "How long have they've been among us?" I kept writing until I had around half a page full, I would have continued but my mom called me for dinner and realized how late it was already, around 10 o clock.
I left my room and had dinner with my family. It was quiet and peaceful, no incidents concerning dark creatures or armored gals saving the day.
The next day I woke up, ate breakfast and got ready for school. I didn't see my family at all and just thought they had already gone ahead. I grabbed my sheet with questions, put it in my backpack with my lunch and went to school.
On the way, I met up with Jess, as usual, and we walked together.
She said pretty cheerfully, "Hello!"
"Yo."
"Nice day, huh?"
"Yeah. I think."
She looked at me weirdly and I got a little uncomfortable having her big green eyes staring so intently at me.
"Um? Something wrong?"
She giggled, very cutely I have to admit, and just shook her head.
"Nope, just making sure you're not I'll."
"Don't worry, I'm fine."On the way she stopped at her family bakery, where she grabbed some pasties that we could share and resumed our walk. Her family, is by far, the best bakers in town. All their cakes and pasties were delicious and had a very special way of making them, which they shared with no one, for obvious reasons.
A few minutes later we were close to our school but saw that it was almost empty. No surprise there, 1 week before summer vacation and most were already out of town. I couldn't care less, most of my classmates are really annoying, my only real friend perhaps, apart from Jess, was Lenny, small, funny but really shy kid. We were in the same Math class this year, even though he was a year younger, and only got along with him because he wasn't a total jerk like the other guys. He also gave me the answers to the problems I didn't understand. I think he only hangs out with me because most people see me as a trouble maker, and are too agaric to approach me. But he had already gone North with his family, so Jess was the only I hung out with.
On the other hand Jess had more friends, since she was smart, pretty [Forget I said that!] and "popular" with the boys. She was little Miss Perfect. Good grades, family owns the best bakery in town, and a face that was appealing to the eyes. She usually was asked to be the girlfriend of somebody every month, but she always rejected them. They always asked why and she merely responded,
"I don't want that kind of relationship right now."
She was admired by most girls and envied by the rest, but they always said that she couldn't pick good friends. Me.
I wasn't popular, nor handsome, nor athletic. I was smart, except for Biology, and had to wear glasses to read the blackboard, which didn't add much to my appearance.
They think that I must have blacked mailed her to be my friend or threatened her family or something. But, again, I didn't really cared about them. There are some who are nice to me, but are to afraid to approach me, because they don't want people to gossip about them.
But Jess didn't care, maybe she just wanted to relax from all that attention.
Well, when we finally arrived to the school there were only six more people, for a total of eight, in my classroom. And because of that most of the classes didn't mattered. But our History teacher didn't care if there was only one, she took every class seriously.
