It was my second day in the refuge as Reginald called it. I liked the place. When you entered you were in the living room, it had two orange sofas and a center table, next to it was the kitchen separated by a small wall and aa door with a circular window. Behind the living room was the dining room. It was a simple wooden table with room for 6 chairs and a white table cloth.

Behind it was the corridor to the rooms and the backyard. The latter was pretty spacious and blended in with the forest, except for a wooden platform in the center where I was gonna train my sword fighting. There were some dummies stored in the cupboard in the back of the house.

As for the rooms, there were three room and one library/study. The rooms were spacious and were almost the same size except for the main room, which had space for a shelf with books, unlike the other two which only held a desk.

The bathroom was in the back of the corridor and we had to plan our shifts to take a shower and knock before entering in case someone was already using it.

But the library was by far the most interesting room. Though it was as simple as the rest, I liked it the most because it held one of the biggest collections of books in one house that I've ever seen.

The four walls were full with shelves of books, even the door was between two shelves. There were two more rows of shelves in the middle and a table near the door. It felt cramped and smelled of old books and old wood, and it was obvious since the oldest books dated back to the third generation of Knights from our family, who had the idea to record all her knowledge in the books.

I don't actually remember her name, but Reginald told me she was the first woman to be a Knight in the family and one of the only 7 to have been a woman Knight in our family.

I was in the thirty sixth generation of Knights, it had been over a thousand years since the time of the first generation and I didn't understand why there were only 7 Knights in our family who were women, so I asked Reginald if that was normal. He told me that the children who became the new Knights were usually the same sex as the original Knight, but there were exceptions, sometimes even the original heir would die and it would be passes down to the sister or cousin of the heir.

In other words, if I die, Shion might take up my mantle and be the eighth woman Knight.

It was noon when I heard Reginald calling me from his room, I left my room and went to his, I knocked and he told me to come in.

He was sitting in his desk writing something. When he was finished he folded the paper and put it in an envelope. He set the envelope and his pen to the side and stared at me. I wondered if it was the same paper he used for my letter.

"Your training will start today," he said.

I stared at him in surprise.

"Really?" I asked, "What will I start with."

"Swordsmanship," he said, "it's the most basic art every Knight must master. But I doubt it will be a problem for you, you have an innate swordsman prowess so it's not gonna take too long."

I was kind of embarrassed after hearing that compliment.

"As for magic, although you haven't shown any power, it's normal and you don't have to show anything, I'm surprised enough by your sword skill."

He paused and stood up, "We will start today by training your body, get something to wear that might get dirty and wear good sneakers."

I went back to my room and grabbed a pair of sweatpants and a baggy sweater.

Once finished I went to the backyard we're Reginald was waiting.

"Now we'll start sword training basics."
