(TW: this chapter mentions depr*ssion, su*cide, and bl**d).
The image of Kylie's red face was haunting as she reached for her eighth shot.
"Kylie, can you please tell me what's wrong? You said you would tell me what was going on with you and Yejun? Did you guys break up?"
I knew there was something wrong. She may have broken up with Yejun, but she isn't telling me. There always seems to be something up with her when she drinks heavily.
"Please explain what's wrong to me, Kylie." Glaring at her, I said.
"nOtHiNg'S wRoNg, cHaEwOn." Laughing, she reached over for her last shot.
As I knew she would throw up if she had even one more shot, I took the glass myself and drank it.
"Come on, Kylie, let's get out of here. You're already too drunk." I wrapped her arm around my neck before paying the bartender.
Taking my phone out, I said, "I'll call for a cab."
"nO It'S oKaY. I cAn jUsT tAkE tHe bUs." She said as I tried to hold her up as much as possible to keep her from falling.
When I heard my phone ring, I realized it was mine. The caller ID on my phone popped up when I pulled it from my purse. The person was Yejun. He must be in need of something.
"Hello? What's up?" I heard Yejun take a big breath before he spoke.
"Oh hey. How's Kylie?" His tone was stern.
"Oh she's doing okay. She's just uh at my apartment now." A nervous chuckle escaped me.
"Oh." He took another deep breath just before he started speaking.
Although I knew I was lying, I knew he was aware of it.
"Ok to tell you the truth she-"
"We broke up."
"She actually isn't- wait what."
He sighed once again as he said, "We broke up."
"Oh-I'm sorry to hear that." I bit my lip as I didn't know what to say.
What caused their breakup? Their relationship was so strong. There was always a lot of love and support between them, making their bond unbreakable.
"Why did you two break up?" I asked hesitantly. I was worried this topic would be too sensitive to talk about.
"She... she figured it would've been better if we weren't together because she assumed I was cheating when I wasn't. She also took a test recently and found out she has some sort of disease. That didn't matter to me though. I loved her so much for who she was, but she wanted to break up and so we did."
The shock was overwhelming. My heart was beating so fast I could feel it in my head. As I was holding the phone, I also found myself sweating profusely. I shed a small tear.
My heart ached for them both. Kylie, because she has a disease, and Yejun, because he loved her so much, but now he lost her. Previously, Yejun suffered from (TW: mention of depr*ssion and su*cide) depression and attempted suicide more than once, but Kylie helped him get through all of this when she came into his life.
My reply was followed by a sigh.
"Honestly, I don't know how to express myself. I feel so sad. I know how tough it must've been for you since you've been through so much before getting to know her."
"It was tough, but it is over. Please make sure Kylie knows I am always thankful for her. And don't worry about me right now, I will get better. If there is anything I can do for you, do let me know." He hung up.
