We only stopped running as we arrived to what looked like an abandoned church. Out of breath, I let myself fall on a bench. Mello and Matt, both panting, sat down on a stone and on the floor. We spent five minutes sitting there, trying to breathe normally again. I was the one who finally broke the silence.

"Why did you leave Wammy's? I mean you had everything there: food, a teacher, a bed...Everything!"

Mello smiled at the question but didn't answer. It was Matt who did.

"Y'know, In a prison you have everything too: food, a bed, and you don't even have to pay for it. But people don't like going there. Because psychologically, they're not happy. It's exactly the same thing in Wammy's. The dumber you are, the worst treatments you get. For them being dumb is like a crime. And the punishment you get is the treatment."He explained.

Wow. I didn't know Wammy's as a prison...

"Now tell me." Mello said. "If there was an innocent sent to prison in front of you, and you just escaped, would you hesitate saving him from the horrible treatment waiting for him?"

I slowly shook my head.

"Now you know why we took you with us." Mello completed before standing up.

"A prison is not a place to grow up. Even if it helped us to stay alive and grow up properly, there was too much selection and discrimination. It seems to be a good place but it destroys your mind. We prepared the day of our leaving for a long time already and saved as much money and food as possible. I was waiting for the day Mello would take me by the wrist and say 'Matt, we're leaving'. And today he finally did."Matt added. "We'll prove you that you are thousand times better here with us than in this hell."

I didn't know what to say. I felt sorry... Now they would have to share everything with me,including their life. But before I was able to say something, I heard a noise. I looked up and it was then I saw that Mello wasn't there anymore.

I stood up and looked for the origin of the noise. Matt didn't seem to notice it. I walked to the small forest that was raising behind the bench I was sitting on,to find Mello.

He was kneeling on the floor, his face buried in his hands. His fist was red and bleeding and slowly turning purple. Then, I heard him crying.

"Mello... Mello are you okay??" I asked, worried, and ran to him.

I sat down next to him and carefully took his hand to look at it

"leave me alone..." he said with a trembling voice.

"shht don't worry,everything is f-"

"I SAID LEAVE ME ALONE!!" he cut me off and a sudden pain hit my cheek.

I fell down, surprised, not realising what just happened.

"Mello what the hell!?"I heard Matt's voice scream before I felt him kneeling next to me and putting my head on his lap.

I felt blood running down my upper lip. Matt softly caressed my hurting cheek and was about to yell at Mello but I stopped him

"No don't. It's my fault." I said and tried a painful smile.

He looked at me,surprised.

"Just leave me alone with him a few secs" I said and stood up.

Matt hesitated before he finally nodded and he left. I was now alone with Mello.
