I came back to the empty lot with a bread in hand.
The stray cat immediately notices my presence and comes close, purring its head on my fingers. I squeezed the bread into tiny bite sizes so that the stray cat could eat comfortably.
I stared at the cat eating as it ate without a care in the world. I wanted to pet it. I reluctantly brought my hand to its head and softly petted its silky, soft fur.
It didn't mind me touching it. I was happy inside, that this cat accepted me.
"Didn't know you like cats, Kurosawa," I got startled and removed my finger from the cat when I see the stranger with a grin on his face.
I look away and stood up, patting my skirt. "It looked stupidly helpless."
I was about to turn my back from him and walk home when he grabs my hand. "Why are you running away?"
I yank my hand away. "Leave me alone."
"But you haven't finished feeding the cat your bread," he points to the remaining bread of my hand and I throw it at him by impulse. "Then you feed the stupid cat."
And I ran away, not meaning what I said.
