Chapter 2: Doppelganger?

I fell on my ass.

"Ow, what the fuck..." Saphyra muttered, getting up. The only reason her bones were intact because she had fallen on her suitcase and bag. She touched the pocket of her hoodie to check if her knife was still there. It was. Saphyra sighed with relief. She wouldn't want to lose the last thing her father gave her just like that.

She looked at the room she had fallen in. It resembled a courtroom. The man in the chief judge's seat spoke. "Are you alright?" He asked gently. His eyes were a shade of yellow. Amber, but lighter. He had brown hair and was dressed in a red uniform. "Uh, yes, I'm fine." She replied, still wincing a bit. "That's not a pleasant way to enter Devildom." He remarked. No. It's not. I'm lucky I didn't break a few bones. "I'll look into it." Someone else murmured.

"Devildom? So is this... The Royal Academy of Diavolo?" Saphyra asked. "Yes. Although we just call it R.A.D." The man confirmed. "You are standing inside the assembly hall. The heart of R.A.D. This is where we officers of the student council hold our meetings and conduct our business. I'm the president of said council." He explained. "My name is Diavolo. I am the ruler of R.A.D.  all demons and all here know of me. And someday soon, I will be crowned King of all Devildom." Oh shit. I'm talking to royalty. He doesn't seem like a snob though, which is good. She thought. Saphyra half bowed, but winced with pain again. She sighed, defeated. "Sorry sir, I'd kneel, but my legs are not co-operating." Diavolo shook his head. "Oh, no need! You did have a terrible fall just now." Saphyra nodded gratefully. "Thank you, sir."

"So, I'm sure you know the reason you're here?" He inquired. Saphyra nodded. "I'm part of an exchange program between Devildom and the human realm. I'm to stay here for one year, complete the tasks given to me, and write a paper about my experiences by the end of it." Diavolo looked pleased. "Excellent. Good to hear that you know what's going on." He took a deep breath. "My dream is to have humans, angels and demons co-exist with each other harmoniously. I'm making you the foundation for that dream, Saphyra." She nodded solemnly. "I'll do my absolute best to make that dream come true, sir." She promised. Diavolo smiled."I'm sure you will. But I don't expect you to do this alone. Especially when you're a human being in a world full of demons." He looked to his right. "Sitting next to me," he gestured with his hand, "is Lucifer. He is a demon and the Avatar of Pride. He's also the vice president of the student council and my right hand man. And not just in title, I assure you." He smiled proudly. "Beyond that, he is also my most trusted friend." Saphyra nodded, smiling, and she turned her gaze in the direction of the demon who Diavolo was speaking about.

She froze. Blood roared in her ears.

Eyes a mix of red and black, like rubies scattered upon black velvet.

Hair as dark as a raven's wing.

Skin smooth and pale as marble.

It was him. It had to be.

"Luciel...?"
