"And where do you think you're going?" Adam blocks my way. I catch him holding the form we were given only a few minutes ago, neatly folded into an air plane and cringe.
"Awe don't break my heart Candy, this is my best work." Tilting his head to a side, he places his hand over his chest faking hurt.
"Actually, a gift for you." He pushes it into my hands. The less attention I give him, the sooner he will stop annoying.
"Thenks." I spare him a sarcastic smile and try to pass, only to be be pulled back by my arm.
"What now?" I almost whine.
"Open it. We have a lot to discuss." I am taken aback by the seriousness in his tone. But then again, who am I kidding? He was supposed to behave like this with me from the very start. I think. I think its time for me to tell him about everything.
I feel my heart beat pick up pace but I have to do it. Running is gonna get me nowhere. At least here I have the choice of telling the truth. I stop myself from visiting a dark portion of my mind and try focusing on the handsome problem at hand.
I look into his questioning eyes and build up my courage. " Yes, we do have a lot to discuss, I have a lot of speaking to do. So here it goes..." I take a deep breath in and spin around like a ballerina on a skateboard, too afraid to do this face to face.
I open my eyes and try to keep calm by focusing on the scene ahead. Through the full length glass window, the beauty of the front campus could be sunk in. The lush green trees, the wide brick pavements with gorgeous white fences and the basketball court. I feel my nerves relax.
" Tik Tok. We don't have all day Candy" I gasp as I feel his warm breath on my ear.I instantly move away, not liking my liking for this. Clearing my throat, I regain composure and start, "Okay, I know you might be confused because of all that has been happening today. Its my fault, and I don't shy away from owning up to my mistakes."
I turn around to see him cocking his head to aside, listening intently. How cute and - No, focus Em. I look down at my Mary Janes clad feet and continue " Yesterday Ro and Jass kept bickering about you the entire day. No exaggeration, and I was annoyed to say the least. And sugar kinda messes with my head, and I had 3 cups of coffee before going to the bonfire so that equals 6 spoons of sugar so you can do the math." I spot him biting his lip to stop a smile breaking through his face.
"And I realise that it is T.M.I so, back to the topic." I pass him a glare and continue. "So your name just blurted out of my mouth. It is hard to explain but I am a feminist and normally very self reliant and most definitely don't go around using random guys as my shields."
There, I said it. No more lies. No more running. No more nothing. I catch Adam lick his lips and fix his gaze on me. What? He is just going to stand there like an idiot? Say something duffer.
I raise an eyebrow at him but he keeps staring at me, amusement very evident in his eyes. Ahgg. Why is he just standing there like a dumb statue?
"Sooo...?" I prompt again.
"So what?" He replies. What? The least he could do is give me a decent reply. Irritation comes rushing back to me.
"What do you think huh? You raccoon. I just told you everything. The truth. Pulled you outside the dark and you are just standing there, saying nothing? Do you have an ounce of etiquette in you?" I holler at him taking two steps ahead. At this moment i could give anything to be taller. I wished for this to intimidate him, but me reaching up only till his soldiers is hardly doing the job.
He throws his head back and a deep, warm and throaty laugh surrounds me. Looking into my eyes, he says, "Candy, you are a source of walking-talking entertainment. Did anybody tell you that?"
