He was alone in his room. Dark brown hair was brushed to the side as he sat on the edge of his bed. For the past week, he'd been trying to locate her. As if she was hidden—he'd had no such luck.

Jayden let out a sigh of frustration.

Where was she?

He remembered the day she'd broken free from him. His being had nearly shattered from the force of repulsion he'd felt when his hold on her was broken.

She was getting stronger and he was getting weaker.

He felt hands on his bareback and as if just remembering that someone else was on his bed, he looked down at the human girl that laid on it.

He stared at her and listened to her heartbeat. It was addicting. He'd been stocking up for the past weeks, laying hold on whoever he could find.

The more blood he took the stronger he felt, but there'd been something about Adriel's blood that was different. Her blood gave him a high that was hard to come down from, and he wanted more. With her blood, he would be ten times stronger and would crush any remaining resistance like a bug.

A war was coming and he didn't care how many people he killed, he would win and he would once again have her in his arms.

Vido had spoken to him the day he completely lost his hold over her. He'd been livid and was practically breathing fire.

"I thought you had her. That was the goal. But she got freed, how?!" He roared and he saw his usually laid back expression contour into a grotesque sight. He'd grabbed Jayden's neck, squeezing it. Vido's voice had changed to his real shrilly, ugly one and so had his face.

Jayden had seen him in his real form a few times and like each time he'd been repulsed by the sight. His teeth were too long for his mouth, his head oblong and misshapen, his wings hung in an odd angle as he increased pressure on Jayden's neck.

"Get her back or I'll kill you myself." His shrill like voice cut out. Those were the last words he said before he'd disappeared into thin air.

He would get Adriel at all costs. He turned and whispered a few words to the girl on his bed.

Mesmerized, she leaned into him and Jayden sank his teeth into her. He drank her blood and he didn't stop, not until he felt her life slip away from her.

He retracted his teeth and stared into her cold dead eyes, blood dripping down his chin.

That was the tenth one this week. He needed all the strength he can get.

He would have Adriel, one way or another.

Alex dropped Adriel off like he did every morning. It was winter and she was more than appropriately dressed for the weather.

She had a scarf around her neck, her hands disappeared behind a pair of gloves. She wore earmuffs and was wearing boots too.

Alex watched her slightly amused as she tried to wiggle her way through the snow.

"It's not funny you know." Adriel huffed crossing her arms.

"No, it's not. Hold on." Alex got down the car and helped her fix her scarf and beanie. She blushed as he wrapped the scarf firmer around her neck. She felt like a child. It didn't help when he placed a hand on her head.

"Be safe okay?" He said softly. She looked up into his serious and worry-filled eyes.

"I'll be fine." She replied.
