Nearly everyone had left for the day, but Hisako didn't. Waiting on one of the school benches where they all usually had lunch together, or used to, she stared up at the sky, clearly deep in thought.

"I finally found you."

Hisako turned around to see Kokoro walking towards her with a black box. "You've been looking pretty down these days haven't you?"

She didn't speak a word as she continued to gaze deeply as if she were looking at another world inside her head, which wasn't exactly wrong either.

"I know! How about we play a little game?" She shook the box, small noises came from it and she opened it up...........

"Chess?" Hisako asked.

"Precisely."

She sat down beside Hisako, the chess pieces clinking in sync to the rushing wind. "I thought laying for a bit would help, do you know how to play?"

"Chess, no different from tic-tac-toe." Hisako stood up. "Yes I know how to play."

"Good. The purpose of chess is--------"

"To checkmate your opponment's King without losing all your pieces, essential of having a strategic mindset and grasping your opponent's movements."

"Ok you do know a lot......Figures." Kokoro sighed.

"Of course, I used to play when I was younger."

"You did?"

"Yeah."

Kokoro nodded. deciding not to push for any further details. "W-would you like to play?" Hisako nodded earnestly as Kokoro began to set the game out.

"I'll be the black pieces. Is that ok."

"I don't mind. I prefer the white pieces anyway."

"Alright I'll set you up."

Kokoro placed the entricate pieces on the board and smiled as Hisako stared at her white pieces.

"Your open."

"Huh?"

Hisako lightly pressed her pawn piece on the board. Kokoro hadn't meant to give her such an advantage this early on......

"How are you so...fast......You barely......."

Hisako nodded as she eyed her pieces, she had just lost a bishop, two knights, and a pawn. She wanted to have a good comeback win.

"I see.....there."

"Huh? How did you........But i was sure I had moved......."

"You didn't pay attention to your surroundings too well. You left many of your bishops open."

"I see......" Kokoro pouted a little as one of Hisako's bishops removed a large quantity of Kokoro's, she bit her lip as Kokoro moved hers across the board swippign pawns from left to right.

"Your good." Kokoro soothed, nothing like her normal self. "How are you this good at commanding your pieces?"

"Whenever I focus my attention to one subject or matter, my thoughts focus entirely on it."

"I see....nice....nice........"

"My grandmother taught me how to play chess. She says it is effective in calming oneself down."

"She isn't wrong." Kokoro knocked another bishop. "That's why I offered to play."

"I thank you....." Hisako knocked her knight out of the way. "This is a good way to relax."
