Chapter 2

6 days later it was finally the practical test and Rachel felt as though she was ready. Sneaking out of her home, she hurried towards UA high. As she walked into the main building, one of the upperclassmen guided her to the testing location. She was stretching when she noticed Tsubaki walking by. Instead of pursuing her, she minded her business. Rachel was never good at interacting with others. Her parents only had her do quiet missions. Never having to say a word to anyone aside from her mother and father. "Rachel!" a gentle voice yelled out. The small girl turned and saw Tsubaki approaching. Clearing her throat, she looks at her and smiled a very faint smile. "Hey... Did you rest well?" asked the little one. As they had small talk, the intercom turned on. "Welcome students to the practical portion of your entrance exam! Through those double doors are some robots specially designed by our support teacher Mei Hatsume. Each of which is marked by the level of difficulty." The hearing hero Earphone Jack announced. As the Pro hero explained the levels Rachel became heated. Excited to go all out on the robots designed for the practical test. "This year you will be assigned a partner!" Rachel froze and looked up her full attention on the pro hero. She was worried, she never had to work with anyone but herself. "This will be solely based on your results in the written exam," said Earphone Jack. Worried still, she watched as the names were being called. "Hamato Rachel and Katsumi Tsubaki." A sigh of relief escaped Tsubaki. Relieved that she was paired with someone she knew. Rachel, on the other hand, was nervous. "Let's go come up with a plan and stretch," Tsubaki said to Rachel. Reluctant, Rachel followed. They began to stretch and discuss a plan to get through this together. Rachel began to space out still worried. About three hours have passed and they announced the commencement of the second part of the exam. The gates opening as everyone heard three beeps, the third beep being the loudest, everyone took that as a sign to start. The soon to be UA students began to rush in with their partners. Tsubaki and Rachel took a different route to combat the bots awaiting them inside the arena. 10...30...60...100... The duo started racking up points until Rachel saw another bot. "I got this one!" Rachel announced running towards it. "No! Don't go on your own again! We just talked about this! Rachel!" Tsubaki screamed trying to catch up to the dirty blonde. Rachel, being hard-headed, went on attacking the bot. Not having noticed the crumbling, unstable building she continued to attack the robot. The mechanical giant knocked the unstable building over and debris flew everywhere. Rachel tried to dodge the falling concrete until a yelp escaped the small girl. Realizing that she was on the ground she looked back at her leg and screamed in pain. The small one's leg was broken and pinned under the concrete. Tsubaki stood there shocked looking around for her idiot partner.        

As Tsubaki's eyes wandered around in an attempt to look for her partner, she heard a faint scream. She runs to the direction where the scream came from, running in to help her injured partner."Rachel!" She jumps into the air, landing in front of the giant robots with her hands on the ground, giant spikes of ice come from the ground and rush towards the enemies and trap them. Without hesitation, she rushes towards Rachel and uses her water quirk in an attempt to push up the concrete from her leg and pull her away."I told you not to go on your own! There's a reason why this year we have partners!" She scolded her while pulling her up. The ground began to shake slowly as the giant robots broke free from the ice and large shards flew towards the girls before any of them could react, a boy landed in front of them with his left arm out towards the chunks of ice and used an unknown force to push the shards of ice to the robots. Another boy with turquoise hair lands behind him and bows his head to the girls, "Ladies. You two should get out of here, you'll get hurt." Annoyed, Rachel yells at the two boys, "Hey extras! We had it handled here, you should mind your business!" Tsubaki softly nudges her stomach, "What she meant was that I could have shielded us."

"You would have no reaction time for that. A thank you would've been nice though." The boy with blue hair with black highlights commented. "It's ok Hiro. I'm Rudolphe and that's Hiro." The turquoise haired boy said introducing them. Tsubaki looked over to Rachel after acknowledging the two boys. Noticing Rachel's condition getting worse. She pulled Rachel over to her to give her more support. "I think it's best you both head out, get the nurse to fix that up," Hiro tells the both of them,.. Rachel retaliates exhausted," I'm fine... I don't need help..."
