CHAPTER SIX
accidents do happen

( season 4, episode 1 )

✧༺♥༻✧

The next morning, Juno awoke feeling hot and sweaty.

This wasn't much different than usual: it was very hot at the prison. But now there was something hot against her, making her sweat even more.

She groaned, rubbing in her eyes to get the sleep out. Juno remembered the previous night and now it made sense as to why it was hot. She was still in Tony's bed.

"Hey." Tony said, back against the wall. From the looks of things, it didn't seem like she'd slept at all.

Juno smiled awkwardly and sat up as well. It felt strange, waking up somewhere else. Usually she'd wake up alone or with one of her sisters' faces against hers.

She got out of the bed and nearly tripped on something. She looked at her feet and noticed the walkman. Juno picked it up and returned it to Tony.

The bags underneath the other girl's eyes were bigger, it seemed like.

"Sleep...?" Juno asked softly. It was too early for social interactions. Nevertheless...

Tony nodded absentmindedly, looking away from her. Juno decided not to push her.

"Thanks." Was all she said, before leaving the cellblock. A lot of people were already up and walking, ready to do their chores.

"Shit!"

Juno was late for hers!

She rushed through the hallways, bare feet slapping against the cement. Once she reached her own cellblock, she nearly bumped into her father.

"Juno! There you are. We were looking for you." He said, relief written clearly on his face.

Juno's cheeks flushed and she bit the inside of her cheek. "Had... had a nightmare. I went to Tony."

Her father nodded. "That's alright, sweetheart. Just... next time, come warn me, okay?"

Juno felt ashamed. She'd just worried her family by being gone. That wasn't anything like her. "Sorry." She mumbled.

Ryan looked at his daughter and smiled. He pulled her against him. "Don't worry."

Juno leaned against him for a moment, feeling safe and secure with her father. Then she stepped back and walked towards her cell. She dressed herself in record time and was outside just in time to get breakfast ready for everyone.

''Hey, you weren't here on time. Everythin' okay?'' Carol asked her as soon as she was done feeding the group.

Her face was still flushed, embarrasment clear on her face. ''Yeah.. Overslept. 'm sorry.''

Carol laughed and Juno could see the wrinkles near her eyes. They were new, like she hadn't laughed much Before. ''It's alright.  You must've needed it.''

She nodded, wiping at her forehead.

The older woman left her alone after that and she sighed in relief, leaning against the wall in the shadow. It was hot, which wasn't unusual, seeing as they were in Georgia and it was summer. But Juno couldn't handle the heat that well.
