My heart beats like a skipping stone
It pitter-patters the beat
I saw you in the subway crowd todayI slide to the ground now my back against the wall
Like raindrops travel down windowpanes
You didn't see me get lost in itI'm not surprised, the grey city air
gifted me the sunken complexion of downtrodden
I wish I've lost myself in you instead
But we stopped dancing
long before we stopped smiling at eachother
Your glasses took me back to when
The windows of your car fogged over
We were trying to outwait the downpourYou twisted your face to the incoming train
Alert like a gundog ready to get wet
But we were shivering from the cold alreadyYou're getting on like we rarely did
My perfume unchanged but you didn't recognize it
And I turned awayWhy didn't you chase me when I turned away
