"Do you see him?" Jonah asked. He walked to his car and opened the door, waiting for Ava's response. He glared at the empty space in the garage. Lori hadn't been home since that fool of a son of his came and decked him in the damn face three weeks ago. Even his own daughter hadn't called him. Or more like refused to call him.

Since Lori and Amber were so damn righteous about how people should be treated, they chose to side with that whore and her bastard child Elisha called his family. That black bitch did more than just tear up his family; she stole them from him. She poisoned their food and water with her unpure hands and altered their right frame of mind. But like all bad things, it had to come to an end. The rain was no longer going to pour down on his head. Jonah was going to smile again.

"He might be out on a case with his partner," Ava responded. "I haven't seen him since this morning."

Jonah sighed, ready to toss his phone to the ground. "I didn't help you get that job for nothing, Ava, and I sure as hell don't pay you to not do your job right the first time."

She scoffed. "You know my boss happens to watch my every move, Jonah."

"You think I care about your boss, Ava. I could give two shits. What I need you to do is follow him home, capture his every move, make Sabrina look bad, and lure him in your direction."

"Then, I'm going to need extra pay for all that, Jonah," Ava said. "My services don't come cheap."

"Woman, if you really do think you can swindle me out of more money, then obviously you're stupider than I thought you were. Do your damn job, and I'll consider it. But it must be done right, or your boss might get a whiff of your rap sheet you acquired over the years."

"Okay, you win," Ava said. "But if you cheat me out of my money, I'll make sure you'll sink with me."

"Do your damn job, woman."

"Keep your end of the bargain," she said, ending the call.

Jonah cranked his car and pulled out of the long driveway. He was going to fix what Sabrina tore apart. Even if that meant that she had to die at least she'd no longer be around to disrupt the ones he loved again.

Ava watched Elisha and Kevin walk into the precinct. That man was sheer perfection, she thought. The way strands of his brown hair would fall just about his eye was teasing. His muscles seemed like they always wanted to rip free from the shirts he wore. The hue of his skin always made her want to lick some vanilla ice cream. She didn't care if his girlfriend was black or not. What Ava saw, she wanted. And no one, not even mean ole Jonah, was going to stop her from getting it or him, in this case.

The bonus was, was that she was getting paid for doing what she knew best. Taking what she rightfully marked as hers.

Noticing Captain Alders approach Elisha, she sat back down in her chair and waited for him to end his long-winded conversation. Apparently, he didn't know what breathing meant. Ava sat back in her chair and smiled. If that meeting took all night, it wouldn't have bothered at all. Unlike a certain man that controlled her pocketbook at the moment, she had patience. At least that what she called. To Ava, it was her down payment for her biggest most desiring reward. Elisha Brysen.

"Earth to Ava," Kevin said, snapping his fingers in front of Ava's face. "What's got you so happy?"

Ava glared at Kevin for a moment, taking in his attractiveness. His hazel brown eyes coincided with his chocolate brown skin. The smooth waves in his black hair showed that he took good care of it every night. His muscles were obviously bigger than Elisha's, but he wasn't too big. He could fit comfortably in between her thighs. He was shorter though. Maybe by two or three inches. And that damned smile of his was delectable. Even his teeth were perfect. A little too perfect almost. "I'm okay," she replied with a smile. "I was just thinking about something."
