A/N: I know I keep mixing fandoms in these oneshots but whatever. Deal with it. This one takes place after the sixth book. The Bloodlines series hasn't happened yet. Pretend Rose and Dimitri are on their way to Florida for a vacation after the drama of the elections.

~~~Rose POV~~~
I rode shotgun in our blue Ford Mustang with my arms crossed over my chest. Dimitri was driving. Again. He never let me drive.
"Are you going to stop scowling at me and enjoy the scenery?" he asked, glancing over at me. I huffed and glared at him. He just smiled and chuckled, returning his gaze to the road.
I guess the scenery was relatively nice. We were on our way to Florida for a couple weeks off before Lissa really kicked things into gear with her new political ideas and shit. Right now we were on the highway, but it was actually pretty with the sun and trees and stuff. We were running on a human schedule for this trip, mainly because we both missed the sun.
A beep sounded from the dashboard. Dimitri and I both looked at it. "We're getting low on gas," he said. He started looking for exit signs but we were in the middle of Nowhere, Georgia, as of this moment. Remember how I said the scenery was nice? Yeah, because there weren't any other roads or exits or cars to distract from it.
I pulled out my phone to use the GPS. "What's the nearest town?" asked Dimitri. I tapped in our location and scrolled through the towns.
I opened my mouth to tell him the closest town, but then I paused. A little bit further away was Hazzard County. A grin grew on my face as I remembered how Lissa and I had stayed there for a few months after we had first run away from the Academy. It was a charming place, albeit a very small one in the middle of nowhere, but the people were very kind to us. We had met the Duke family right as we first arrived to stop for gas. They were very hospitable and didn't question us further when we said, "I assure you that we're not doing anything illegal," which probably wasn't the best line to lead with but the patriarch, Jesse Duke, smiled and shot knowing looks at his two nephews, Bo and Luke, and motioned for me to continue.
"Our families were killed in a car accident and we have crazy relatives trying to get a hold of us. We're just trying to get away from all the craziness that happened after the funerals," I explained.
Jesse nodded. "Where were ya thinkin' of goin'?" he asked. Lissa and I exchanged a look. They seemed nice enough but I didn't want to trust too easily. Then again, my gut was telling me they were completely sincere and could absolutely be trusted.
"We didn't really have a place in mind..." I trailed off awkwardly. Jesse's niece, Daisy, stepped up.
"Well, why don't y'all stay with us for a while?" she suggested.
I shook my head. "Oh no, we don't want to impose or inconvenience you," I said.
They all laughed. "It ain't no trouble at all," said Jesse. "At least stay until ya figure out where you're headin'." Lissa and I exchanged a look and reluctantly accepted.
Our car had needed some repairs done, so we left it at Cooter's repair shop. The boys gave us a ride back in their car and laughed when we tried to open the doors.
"They're fused shut, like a race car," said Bo. "You gotta go in through the winduh." He demonstrated, slipping into the car feet-first.
"I'll sit in back," offered Luke. He got in, and then we helped Lissa get in. I sat shotgun next to Bo, who started the engine of their 1969 Dodge Charger.
"Hey, while you're here, how 'bout we teach ya to drive the General?" he suggested.
"The what?"
