The mid-morning sun shone through the windows of Quincy's apartment, waking her up. Almost instantly, a noticeable knot in her shoulder made her regret falling asleep on the sofa.
She threw on a pair of black jeans, a black tank top, along with a green flannel shirt. Hot cocoa was being heated up in the kitchen as she curled her short, blonde hair. Quin realized that she forgot to look once she submitted her application at when she would hear back. She powered on her laptop, sipped some hot cocoa, and logged into her email.
Hopefully, there was an email in her inbox that would tell her when she would hear back; if not, she'd have to play the waiting game. Quin's hazel eyes scanned through her email, ignoring the spam emails that she had yet to unsubscribe from. Then, they landed on something. In the bar line, it read: Hi5 Application. She was glad to see something there; she absolutely HATED to wait. Quincy clicked on the email, waiting for it to open. Chances were that it would be around a week before she would hear back with a decision, but the blonde wanted to make sure.
Once the email finally opened, Quincy read through it, with it thanking her for the application. At the end of the email, however, there was something instead of a date. It was a request for a face-to-face interview! With a wide smile spreading across her face, the blonde struggled to maintain composure and not upset her neighbors by being too loud. The request was for an interview at 4:00 at the building location. She was bubbling with anticipation, but there were still five hours to kill before it was four o'clock.

Quin pulled up to the address listed in the email, after a thirty-minute drive. She had a few minutes to spare, so she did some last-minute touch-ups to her hair and make-up before climbing out of her white jeep. Quincy noticed that her hands were shaky, her breathing was shallow, and her heartbeat had quickened since she stepped out onto the lot.
She walked up to the nearest building, which happened to be locked. The blonde tapped lightly on the glass door upon seeing that there was a girl sitting at a desk nearby. Luckily, she got up and opened the door.
"Hi, I'm here for an interview. The name's Quincy Parker."
"Alright, Matthias should be down soon; you can have a seat on the sofa in the meantime."
Quin thanked the girl before she sat down. Her eyes wandered around, noticing blue trim that was consistent throughout. She was about to ask about the non-traditional choice when a bearded man approached her.
"Hi. I'm Matthias; you must be Quincy," he greeted with a handshake and a smile. "Nice to meet you."
"Likewise."
Quincy followed him up a set of stairs and into an office that she assumed to be his own. She took a seat across the desk as he shut the door. A window on the shared wall between the office and a conference room. There were about seven or eight people in the room next door having a meeting.
"So tell me, Quincy, why did you apply for Hi5 Studios?"
"Well, I recently moved here from Texas, and need a job. I've taken a couple of filmography classes and photography classes throughout my education. So when I happened to come across the application, I just knew I had to apply. I felt as though I'd have a lot to give and the most potential if I were to get the position," Quin explained with her Texas accent prominent.
Matthias looked at his computer screen before continuing with the interview. He proceeded to ask about her personality, social skills, dedication, and salary. As time passed and the interview continued, the blonde noticed that her palms became more and more sweaty. Everything seemed to be going well from her perspective, but there was no way of telling if she was accurate.
"One last thing before we finish. I found your response to the last question on the application quite interesting. Would you elaborate on that for me?" he questioned.
Quin could feel the heat rising to her face as she began to respond saying, "Usually a passion is said to be something enjoyed. But I believe it goes deeper than that. It's about creating a personal connection and a true love for what you do. A passion is that little je ne sais qua; that something special that makes you who you are."
The blonde pushed aside a few stray hairs from in front of her face. She released the breath that she was unknowingly holding. Quincy's gaze wandered to the window while Matthias was looking at his screen. A couple of people happened to be looking at her, and immediately turned away, knowing they'd been caught.
"Thanks for coming in Quincy," Matthias smiled as she shook her hand. "Be expecting a phone call in the next day or two."
"Great, thank you. Really- you have no idea how much the opportunity to have this interview alone has meant to me," she said.
She left his office and the building, barely able to maintain her composure on the way out. Quincy knew that she wouldn't be able to keep this to herself- she had to tell CJ.
"Hey Siege, you interested in having salad at my place tonight? I need to tell you something," the blonde spoke into her phone.

A knock at the door caused Quin to abandon the chopped lettuce that rested on the counter. When she opened her door, there stood CJ holding two bottles of salad dressing.
"Place looks nice now that there's not boxes all over."
"Thanks; I forgot you haven't seen it since you helped move everything up here. Which I am extremely grateful for."
Quincy threw the lettuce in a bowl and pulled all the toppings out of her refrigerator. She followed after CJ began making his salad. Corn, tomatoes, cucumbers, carrots, bacon, cheese, croutons, and more corn were thrown with her lettuce into a bowl. For some odd reason, roasted corn in Quin's opinion tasted amazing.
"So what were you wanting to tell me?" her neighbor asked once they'd sat down with their food.
"You see, I had a job interview earlier today, and I feel pretty good about it, so I am desperately hoping I get hired for the position," she grinned.
"oh cool. Where at?"
"That's for me to know, and you to find out in the next day or two when I get a call back," Quincy smirked.
"Fine, but tell me ASAP. I don't want a week to pass by then find out," he joked as he put his bowl in the sink and walked to the door. "I've got a bit of out-of-the-office work to do, so I got to get going."
"Alright, see you Siege!"
Once he left, Quin's anxiety levels were through the roof because it had just dawned on her that earlier that day, she let fate determine her future in Los Angeles. All she could do was have hope, and wait for a call.
