My life is pretty ordinary.
Okay, maybe not. I guess it depends on what you define as "ordinary."
If you consider a 12 bedroom, 14 bathroom, cinema room, deck area, and garden the size of a national park "ordinary," then I am your girl.
My family was born into this as my great-great-grandparents had founded the all exclusive Brook's. Think fame and fashion on steroids.
Under my dad's leadership, he has managed to build on the foundations that my grandparents left. He has not only expanded Brook's across the country, but he has created an empire known as Moore Inc.
Packages after packages are sent to our manor from designers begging to be shown in the windows of one of the countless stores here in the US and abroad. The likes of Gucci, Tom Ford, and even Victoria Beckham show up right at our doorstep.
So its only fitting that my dream is then to be a designer?
Right? Wrong.
Yes, I am the next 'heiress' to the thrown being the eldest of three, but being this doesn't give me a chance to even blink nevermind designing my own creations. Instead, I am stuck here staring out the window with my Bussiness 202 book blankly staring at me. With finals only a few months away, I can feel the weight of the world or rather Moore Inc., on my shoulders.
You would think to be in college was full of fun, boys (or girls- whatever your preference), and parties, but nope not for me. With the day of my take-over inevitability looming as my dad edges to retire, I, Veronica Tate-Moore, am set to take over Moore Inc.
Having lost my mom, Victoria Tate, at a young age I know what it is like to take charge. I had found myself taking over the "mother role" for my dad and two younger siblings, Matthew and Amelia Tate-Moore. I'd make sure the fridge was stocked, lunches were made, and family time was well spent. You are probably wondering why when I must have people to do that? Sure, but this is the way my mom did it and I have worked my hardest to hold onto her wishes throughout my life. I have seen the strain my dad has taken since my mothers death 5 years ago and knew the "take-over talk" was coming. That is why I am sitting here, having put my designer dreams on hold for the sake of my family business.
I chose not to attend a university like Harvard, NYU, or Brown, and instead I attend a local University about 3 hours from my house in a small town so that I can be as anonymous as I can be.
I did not want to be known as the "Moore" girl that got in just for her money.
So at Lateral University I objected to the name Veronica Tate-Moore and instead go by Ronnie Tate.
Sure, they could probably look in magazines to see what the tabloids have splashed about my family, particularly me. But the honest truth is that no one here has seemed to noticed or rather cared I guess.
I was not known as an heiress but rather just one of the thousands of students at the college.
But for how long could I keep up this act?
