"It's a school event, you didn't invite me."

I look over to Tess and see her shying smiling not willing to make eye contact with him. Oh, I have figured it out. Mike must have asked her to come and bring me along to the bonfire.

Thanks, Tessa, what a way to keep me in the loop.

"Let's get a drink," I say indicating to anyone in the group that has formed around me. Walking away from the crowd, my head is spinning with questions.

I can't get to know him as much as there is a little voice inside me screaming that I'd like to.

Not only is he arrogant and self-centred but what if he finds out who I am?

I don't know him.

What if he just aims to be famous and uses me to get there? His performance tonight wasn't convincing me otherwise.

He could tell the media and the board would once again see me as a party girl and not the CEO my dad has been training me to be. The media would have a field day of it. I can see the headlines now.

Billionaire heiress: party girl who got her life handed to her on a silver platter.

It's not what my mom would have wanted.

I have to prove myself and I am not sure I could do it with him by my side.

....

Getting a drink I manage to find a seat at the bonfire.

Tessa and Mike are laughing about something on my right and looking towards my left I see Chad chatting to another blonde as she loudly giggles at something she just whispered in his ear.

I look away, feeling a ping in my stomach.

Maybe another drink will fix it. The old me would approve. Standing at the keg, I pour a beer and take a big sip.

"Hey."

I look up to see a tall, blonde-haired, green-eyed guy with a jaw-line to die for.

"Hey," I reply which comes out more like a squeak than a word. I wipe the contents of leftover beer around my lips.

Why am I this embarrassing???

"I'm Calvin and your name is?"

"Ronnie."

"I see you're a beer girl," he says indicating towards my now empty cup.

I chuckle, "Not usually actually. It's been a rough week," I tease

I allow my eyes to take in his black jeans and a varsity football jacket. He must be on the team.

"Heyyy Calvin," Chad's blonde glued to his abs says in a chihuahua like high pitched voice. She is seductively leaning forward to show off her cleavage at Calvin.

Her low lying top is from Forever 21 and I make mental notes of the improvements I'd make on the neckline.

Chad brushes her off him in one swept as he is eyeing out Calvin with disguised. I thought they were friends considering they on the team together but I guess not. Calvin must have done something to piss Chad off. Could it be because he's jealous of the blondes antics towards Calvin?

Calvin turns to me, seemingly ignores the blondes attempts at gaining his attention and Chads scowl that if looks would kill this one would be deadly.

"Want to go find a seat at the bonfire?"

I think why not.

"Sure" I reply with little hesitation as I would like to get away from this situation as quickly as possible. We make our way to the bonfire as I feel Chad's eyes practically burning into our backs.

.....

After talking to Calvin for over an hour, I've never laughed so much in my life but it has become clear to me that we are made to be just friends. I can't sense if he feels the same way.

Calvin reminds me a lot of my brother Matthew with his dry sense of humour and witty smile. He is studying accounting as his dad was an accountant and his dad's dad was also an account. I feel like he gets me.

"What's the first thing you want to do when you are finished?" I ask him, realizing my own future was already laid out for me.

"I've already applied to Moore Inc. to complete my 3 years of articles, but I haven't heard back yet so I've started to look around a bit more."

I try not to flinch at the name, but I feel like I failed miserably although Calvin seems to not notice. I make a mental note to contact the accountant head tomorrow and let him know about Calvin.

It's the least I could do, Moore Inc. would be lucky to have him.

By the time we finish talking, the bonfire has turned into a small pile of ash with red amber still flickering out. We exchange phone numbers as he promises to message me for study sessions and coffee breaks.

Calvin is now chatting with a few other football mates. Tired, I think it's time for me to head back to the dorm. Tess seemingly having the same idea is asking me if I'm ready to go.
