"There's no way! I can't fathom that he'd actually continue to take interest in me for the rest of the school year, I mean hasn't it clicked for him yet? Hasn't, anything? He blatantly greets me every waking day, I come to school and he's just- there! I'm not even pursuable, plenty of-"

"Anne, please! I'm sure Charlie will eventually comprehend your disinterest," Diana let out a sigh full of irritation, as her friend interrupted her focus, "Now would you pay attention?! I'm trying-"

WHACK!

"Hey!" The brunette shot up, only to get another ice bullet whammed in her direction, brushing her delicate curls. She witnessed Billy high-fiving a very unsure Moody, and Diana crouched back behind the firmly built wall of snow.

"Well he hasn't been any better at taking a clue as of late, that's for sure," Anne remarked, scultping the perfect sphere in her mittens, tightly packing it all together.

"Boys are more... insensible, than us woman," Diana grumbled, and Anne couldn't bite back the smile when being considered a lady, it was such a thrill!

They both swept up more material from the ground, "Mother taught me that sometimes we must let them wallow in their own confusion," Diana explained, her tone full of the properness she grew up with, "This way they can arrive at a conclusion themselves."

"That's clever, my dearest Diana. Though I do think it's nice to give them a piece of mind, maybe with a more vocal manner. Wouldn't you agree?"

A cheshire cat like grin overtook Anne's lips, full of mischief, as her head peeked from their barricade. She counted down from five, and once the time was right, opened fire at Billy. Like she hoped, the snowball landed smack in the middle of his face- score! Oozing with accomplishment from her aim, she pulled Diana over to get a view of the fool.

"Hey, not fair! We said face doesn't count!" Billy called out, wiping the sludge off as laughter bursted from his classmates.

"Good job, Anne!" Diana complimented, a grin diminishing her past frown.

"Thank you my bosom friend- he had it coming, anyway." Anne nudged her friends arm and they fell into a pit of giggles.

"THIS MEANS WAR, ANDREWS!"

It was a chilly but bright afternoon when the students gathered in an open field, following their school day, making use of what was left of the previous nights weather. Classically, teams were divided so boys went against girls, Ruby Gillis spectating with Josie Pye to keep track of the points. Like most games in the past, they weren't too good at holding score, but nobody seemed to notice.

"Oh my," Ruby fawned, "Gilbert has such a brilliant strategy, don't you agree?" She levitated on her tip toes to admire him crafting a pile of snowy weapons.

"Please, all he does is cower," Josie disagreed, crossing her arms, "Billy's the one upfront, in my eyes, he get's the most credit."

Wiping what was either sweat or water from his forehead, Gilbert stared pleasingly at the six snowballs he formed. They were all nearly a perfect shape, and would make a good bombardment at whatever victim he chose. His mere second of pondering couldn't fool him though, he already knew who he wanted to cross paths with.

"Cool," Billy stepped over without invitation or a single acknowledgement, "You mind?"

"Well actually, I was-"

"Thanks, bud." Gilbert was left to watch as Billy took it upon himself to take his treasures one by one, stopping at four as it was all he could carry.
