A New World

Chapter 1

Hi guys, here's a new story, this time it's Sagelyn (Sage and Brooklyn) from the Utopia Falls series. I had a story designed to start writing it. But a friend started this one, made the first chapter and she's not going to follow it, so she gave me up so that now I'm the one to write my story from here. Here I put the first chapter written by her. And the next one will be mine. I hope you like it very much and the idea of a fanfiction of our couple Sagelyn! After the failure of the revolution proposed by the Exemplar candidates, and taking advantage of a gap in the force field that hid New Babyl from the rest of humanity, Brooklyn and Sage decided to escape to New Lazarus, along with Aliyah, Bohdi and Mags.

The gang knew nothing about Tempo or Apollo, but they hoped, with all their strength, that both would be well and as far away from the Tribunal as possible.

After their arrival in New Lazarus, the gang were disoriented, did not know where to go and had little food or water left. They needed to find shelter soon.

New Lazarus was also divided into sectors, but there were more of them than they knew. They were like sub-sectors within the four main sectors.
Industry was divided into Mechanics and Electricity; Nature into Agriculture, Livestock and Fishing; Progress into Technology and Infrastructure; and finally Reform, which was the same as in New Babyl, but more opportunities were given, it was not taken for granted that they were all criminals (or at least it seemed that way...)

They kept walking but saw nothing, suddenly Mags spotted a house in the distance. Running, with the little strength they had left, they headed there to try their luck and see if they could find anything.

To their surprise an old woman was drinking tea, they didn't want to disturb her, but they needed food and water right away.
- Good morning, we have made a very long journey and we need to feed ourselves, would you be so kind as to give us some food and water, please? - said Sage, with a very soft tone.
- We are really thirsty, please, we really need it. - said Mags, supporting her friend.
The woman suddenly spoke, without looking at them, without getting up, nothing, with a slightly chilling tone said, - I was waiting for you kids from New Babyl. -
They all shuddered as they looked at each other, then Brooklyn approached the woman and saw her, she was blind, and they didn't understand anything that was happening, they just kept quiet, silence to which the woman reacted saying - sit down kids and take what you need, my granddaughter Stephanie will be here soon and will prepare the rooms for you. -
None of them knew what to say or how to react, but they did not hesitate to listen to the woman and sat down to eat. - Thank you, ma'am. - they all said in unison, as they tasted such delicious food.

When they finished eating, Mags fell completely asleep with her head on the table, so the other four took the opportunity to go outside and lie down in the sun for a while.

Brooklyn lay down first and left her arm stretched out inviting Sage to lie down with her, she did so and once she was lying down she gave her a kiss on the cheek, Brooks looked at her, grabbed her chin and gave her a good kiss.
- Stop it! We're not alone. - shouted Sage all nervous and blushing.
- What's the matter, I can't kiss my girl when I want to, or what? - said Brooks a little upset about Sage's reaction.
- It's not that, but we don't know this place, we don't know how they would react to something like that. - explained Sage.
- I don't understand you. What do you mean? What do they have to react to? To us loving each other, to love, to a kiss between two people who love each other... - said Brooklyn in confusion.
- No Brooks, it's not that. It's not as easy as it was at home. In New Babyl there were no labels and people loved each other for who they were, no matter what. It's different here.
- And how do you know all this? Where did you get these ideas from? - said Brooklyn more confused than before, if possible.
- In the Archive I watched a video in which people of the same sex were persecuted, discriminated against and killed for loving each other. In the video they were called "gays" and I'm afraid that having left New Babyl, loving you means putting you in danger. I'd hate for anything to happen to you, especially if it's my fault. - said a scared and worried Sage.

Brooklyn, overwhelmed by fear and sadness, hugged Sage tightly hiding her face in her shoulder and suddenly her sobs could be heard from the other side of New Lazarus.
- Sweet Sage, I don't want to lose you, nor do I want you to stop loving me for "protecting me". If they come after us, we'll fight just like we did before we ran away from home. We can do anything together and I'll prove it to you. And like you said, we're not alone. - said Brooklyn sad but determined.

Sage hugged her back, so hard that she almost chocked her and said in her ear - love you, my warrior. -
