"Sorry about her. She can be a b*tch." The voice startled me. I turned around to see that there were two boys behind me. They looked just alike. I figured they were Matsu and Mitsu.
"I can see that. I'm Au-"
"You mean Tsubaki." The other one said never taking his eyes off the book he had in his hands.
"Yeah. Sorry I keep forgetting." I don't know why I apologized.
"It's okay. You just have to get use to it. Anyway, I'm Matsu and the one with the book is Mitsu. Nice to meet you." Matsu held out his hand for a handshake.
I shook it. "Nice to meet you too."
"Would you like help with your bags?" He asked.
"Sure." He walked towards me while Mitsu walked downstairs.
All I can describe the room is as pink. I'm not over exaggerating. The walls are pink. The carpet is pink. The beds, the desks, the chairs, even the bedding is pink. Pink is everywhere.
"Woah. This is a lot of pink." I said.
"Yeah. Mom went a little overboard. You should see mine and Mitsu's room. It's nothing but blue. Poor Yuki's room is nothing but yellow. She kinda is a perfectionist so everything is one color."
"I can see that."
"She is a nice person but she can get a bit crazy." He chuckled. "Dinner should be done. Let's go."
"How do you know Japanese so well?" Matsu asked as we walked downstairs.
"My grandfather taught me when I was little. Along with German, Korean, Spanish, French, and a bit of Italian."
"Wow. I wish I knew that many languages. I only know Japanese and a little bit of English."
"Sometimes they can get mixed but it's easy to figure out what you're trying to say."
When we got to the dining room everyone was sitting in their seats and the food was already set. You can tell they had to add a chair for me. I sat next to Yuki. It was a little cramped but it was manageable.
During supper my dad, stepmom (I learned her name is Aoi), and Matsu asked me questions. Nothing personal. Things like 'What is your favorite hobby?' and crap like that. While Mitsu read his book, Mari was on her phone and Yuki gave me the stink eye. What is his problem?
I wasn't really eating a lot. Who can blame me? It's all new to me. I've never had most of it before. Even worst my stepmom notice I wasn't eating a lot.
"You've barely touched your food. Is it not to your liking?" She asked. She's kinda scary. Everybody was staring at me now.
"Aoi." My dad warned her.
"No ma'am. It's delicious." I started. "It's just that I'm not really that hungry right now. I'm really tired from my flight."
"Oh." She said with an understanding tone. "Why don't you take a shower and go to bed. Mari and the twins are going to go into town, Would you like to go with them? It's only a few minute walk."
I looked at them. Matsu smiled, Mitsu read his book, and Mari looked at me in disguised. "That's a fantastic idea mom. I'm sure Tsubaki would love to join us." Matsu said. This is a new experience for me. Maybe coming to Japan was a good idea.
"I guess I could," I said scratching the back of my neck.
"That's great. It's a good way to discover the city." My stepmom said.
After that, she showed me where the bathroom was at. She handed me a towel and a toothbrush and told me good night. I enjoyed my bath. It was very relaxing but I know I won't get any sleep tonight. I have these night terrors that leave me screaming in my sleep. I wake up drenched in sweat and crying. They started after my grandfather died and no doctor can cure them. I know right sucks for me.
