The first thing that Finchkit saw when he opened his eyes were his parents staring right at him. Their eyes gleamed. An almost immediate feeling of overwhelming warmth flooded over him, making him feel safe and cozy. His mother's blue eyes shone with love and hope for her newborn kits. Her soft fur brushed against Finchkit. He felt two other cats pressing against him. He looked over and saw his siblings. One was like the darker version of his mother, dark brown with amazing blue eyes. The other one was the spitting image of their mother, pale brown, also with stunning blue eyes.

"Hello my sweet Finchkit." Rowanstep purred as she licked the top of his head. "Welcome to ThunderClan my little ones."

The other cat Finchkit saw was a ginger tom with caring, brown eyes. He also purred, staring at his son, wondering how he got so lucky to have three healthy kits.

Finchkit decided he wanted to venture around. He stood up, his kit legs wobbled a little bit, but he stood his ground. His father purred even louder, his tail waving in excitement. "Rowanstep, look at how strong they are!" He prodded his mate in the side and gestured to Finchkit.

The brown queen looked over at Finchkit and purred, "looks like he takes after his father."

Sparrowclaw's eyes shone even brighter.

Finchkit took a few steps, making sure not to fall into the Nursery floor. He soon got the hang of it and was walking around the Nursery. His sisters began to stand too, following his example. A voice from across the room startled Finchkit and he turned to see another cat laying in a soft bed of moss with two kits suckling at her belly.

"Wow, Rowanstep, your kits are so strong! Just wait until Quailkit and Fallowkit catch up to them!"

Rowanstep nodded in excitement, "the Nursery will be full of rampaging kits soon." She exclaimed. "So appreciate your peace and quiet while you can Slatemist."

The dark grey and white molly nodded and then turned back to her kits, grooming them.

Sparrowclaw watched attentively as Otterkit and Deerkit caught up to Finchkit. Finchkit growled, disturbed that his sisters could catch him. He started to trot around the Nursery, weaving between Rowanstep and Sparrowclaw who looked on protectively. Finchkit looked behind him and saw that Otterkit had started to gain on him and he howled as she flung herself on him and tackled him to the ground.

"Otterkit!" Finchkit growled. "Not fair!"

Otterkit laughed and pinned him to the ground. Deerkit helped and together, the two had Finchkit in the dirt, fully squashed. He cried out, raging with anger that he had been pinned by his sisters.

Finchkit then heard his mother say to his sisters, "come on you two, let Finchkit up."

Otterkit and Deerkit got off and Finchkit stood up, shaking all the dirt out of his pelt. "Thanks." He muttered, embarrassed that he had been pinned so easily. Sparrowclaw rested his tail over Finchkit's back and whispered into his ear in a loving tone, "Don't worry, someday I'll teach you so many battle moves, you'll be able to pin every cat in ThunderClan."

Finchkit purred, that sounded like fun. "I'll be the best warrior ever!" He exclaimed.

Otterkit smirked, "Not if I'm better than you!" She yipped.

Deerkit shrugged, "Have fun tearing each others' tails off, I wanna be the best mentor ever! I wanna train the best warriors! And then, they'll attack you two and win!"

Finchkit scoffed, "In your dreams, Deerkit." He smirked and leaped onto Deerkit's back, slamming her onto the soft Nursery floor, ready to get his revenge. She squeaked and then wiggled and turned around so that her legs were facing him. Deerkit took her legs and shot them towards the sky, propelling Finchkit off of her. She then leaped up and tackled him again, making sure that he was all the way on the ground.

Finchkit was flattened under his sister's weight. He was about to give up. Then, all of a sudden, the weight was gone. Finchkit looked and saw the Otterkit had come to his rescue. She had Deerkit pinned and was struggling to keep her there. Finchkit ran to help her and they defeated Deerkit together.

"We win!" Otterkit squealed.

Finchkit bounced in excitement, "Eat that, Deerkit."

Deerkit stood and shook out all of the dirt in her fur. "Fine, but just you wait. My army of warriors will be heading your way someday." She smirked and padded off, yawning.

Rowanstep called them, "Come on kits, you're all dusty now and I need to groom you."

Finchkit yawned too, he hadn't realised how much playing tired him out. He tottered over to Rowanstep who was laying in her nest. Deerkit had already laid down and was fast asleep while Rowanstep was licking all of the dust out of her soft, kit fur. Sparrowclaw had lifted Otterkit and placed her next to Deerkit and started grooming her. Finchkit clambered into the nest and settled into the curve of Rowanstep's soft, warm belly. He soon felt the warm rasp of her tongue over his head. When Sparrowclaw was finished cleaning Otterkit he curled himself around Rowanstep and his kits. Finchkit eventually fell into sleep.

Finchkit awoke in a dark clearing, he looked around. Dense forest lined the clearing, the trees looked dark and black. Fog crept silently around Finchkit's paws, sending a chill down his spine. The grass beneath his paws was dead and prickly. The sky above him looked ominous. It was dark grey with clouds gliding past so swiftly, he couldn't keep track of where they were going. A cold gust of wind blasted Finchkit in the face periodically, almost sending him to the ground.

"Where am I?" Finchkit called out, his heart racing. Was this a dream? How did he get there?

A reddish-brown tom appeared from the bushes nearby and approached Finchkit. When the tom got closer, Finchkit saw his amber eyes gleam in the dim light. The strange tom stood over Finchkit, staring down at him. He smirked and whispered...

"Why, hello there Finchkit."
