It was an intensely hot afternoon. The sun was beating down mercilessly on my skin. I stood nearby the players blue benches, fidgeting restlessly. Smoothing the creases in my uniform and tearing off my id badge with trembling hands. Lastly, I needlessly adjusted my arm guard. It was clear as day that I was dawdling. Trying to defer the inevitable. I gripped tightly to my racket. Words of encouragement from my teammates made it to my ear.
- "You can do it!!!"
- "don't sweat it just have fun!!"
My legs moving like jelly from nervousness and unease. I found myself in the court. Cheers broke out all around me.
- "Yu Qing winners"
- "lui ai fang come on!!!"
I inhaled and exhaled, shook my head as if to clear away all the negative thoughts forming in my head. I took one last glance at the benches. As though seeking encouragement from someone in particular. He nodded at me, sending a tacit reassurance my way. He didn't have to mouth it, I could feel it, and that was all the assurance I needed.
"I must win this game, I can't disappoint him or the rest of the team"
I nodded back, my lips slightly curved up in a smile. Determined, I held my racket even tighter.Ps: this scene will be continued in the future chapters 😉

Are you familiar with that feeling?? when you're really scared, and you just want someone to hold you in their arms, and whisper sweet-nothing's in your ear. as if that would shield you from any impending danger. This was the current state our heroine lui ai fang found herself in. Hiding away in a corner of her room, sobbing uncontrollably. Too afraid to step a foot out of her bedroom. But what scared her wasn't a hideous-looking monster lurking outside her bedroom, anticipating it's next victim. what frightened her was something far more haunting than a monster, it was consequences.
She had been informed of her acceptance into Yu Qing's tennis club. The weight of her impetuous actions was settling on her chest. Her heart drummed from dread. She has gotten herself in deep deep trouble by deceiving her entire school, her club members and even her mother. Her constantly absent mother, who is a destination wedding planner, scarcely ever had time for her daughter, And couldn't understand her daughter's attachment to this sport. Leaving her with an old housekeeper, who after her chorus were over would sleep round-the-clock, and offer no emotional support to this neglected girl.
Nevertheless, was resorting to fool everyone around her really the best option?? To sign up into a club filled with boys, sooner or later one of them was bound to figure out what she's desperately trying to keep under her hat. Tennis was all she had, she couldn't bear to have it snatched away from her. It was a foolish act indeed, but there was no way out of it now. She slowly lifted her head up, her eyes blurry and her head pounding. She wiped her tears away with the back of her hand. Her eyes fell upon the neatly folded gray and black trainee uniform. She made her way to it and picked up the t-shirt, then proceeded to walk over to the vanity, and held the t-shirt up to her chest. The mirror reflected nothing but her sorrowful face. Then a thin smile slowly painted her face.
- "it's already been done, there's no point crying over spilt milk" her voice came out hoarse from all the crying.
- "when this school year is over, I'll quit and transfer schools. I just have to hold on until then"
She drew a deep breath. And with this new resolution in mind she collected herself and called it a night. She had a big day ahead of her tomorrow.========================================
