Has it really been twenty-three years? Sophie wondered, looking out over the beautiful expanse of land around her. The field stretched on for a good couple of miles in every direction, and it was covered with flowers of all sorts. Nestled near the center of the field was a wooden farmhouse, painted white. It was two stories tall, with turquoise trim. Two young kids burst through the doors of the farmhouse, sprinting towards where Sophie stood. They giggled, running throughout the field. One of them, a young girl, plopped down a short ways from Sophie and studied the beautiful flowers all around. She watched her brother continue to run for a bit before settling down next to his twin. Sophie watched the twins happily. Her life was complete. She had a wonderful house and a wonderful family. Her mind drifted back to the day when everything changed.
