Chapter 33- court day

Today was the day, the day where I put reckless- I mean bert, locked away, the day I proved to my mother I was innocent, Today was my day. 

I stood in my jail cell brushing through my hair, wearing a nice outfit for the occasion, Alex watching me closly from the bed, 
"wear your hair up.." she said softly as it was still early and she was still half asleep, I turned to look at her
"why..? I feel like it makes my face look.. round" I held my hair back and looked at my face in the small mirror on the wall.

"No it doesn't it makes you look more professional and it looks beautiful" she smiled sweetly before watching me tie my hair back in a high pony tale and leaving my bangs out slightly.
"you think im innocent right?" I asked turning to face her,
"no, I don't think you're innocent, i know you're innocent.." she stood up and walked over to me, placing her hands on my shoulders. 

"I've cheated off your maths test, been in the same homeroom as you, caught the same bus as you and shared a cell with you, so trust me when I say that.. you are going to kick butt in that court room" She smiled and pulled me into a tight hug. I hugged back tightly and smiled. 

"no I don't want to see you back in here again, you hear me?" she growled in a strict voice jokingly, I laughed and shook my head
"I promise you that i'll never turn up here again"  She smiled at me, 
"what time does your lawyer come and pick you up..?" I looked at the watch on my left hand, it was a little smashed and crashed from the whole jail experience but it was still readable. 

"five minutes" I said letting out a shaky breath, I knew I was going to win but I was still so nervous,
"Stop shaking!" Alex slapped me across the face playfully as she could see my hands shaking,
"I'm sorry I'm jus-" We were interrupted by the cell door opening, 
"Destiny Willows, You're lawyers here" I nodded and turned back to alex.

"You'll do great" she hugged me tightly and whispered in my ear
"I hope you don't get sent back to this awful place but at the same time I want you back here so I can see you again.. you're so nice.." leaving a friend you've become close with in jail is never easy, you probably don't know the feeling.
"I'll never forget the girl who made being stuck in a jail cell interesting.."
"Destiny we're waiting" I nodded once more and walked out of the cell.

I walked out to the lawyers car and slid into the front seat
"you look nice" he complimented, I smiled slightly
"thanks.." I mumbled back nervously, ever second that went by I would grow more nervous
"let's just go over the evidence that you're innocent one more time before we drive to court, how about that?" he asked pulling a folder from the back seat, I nodded and watched him closely. 

"okay so, Bert was in a gang where he would call himself Reckless and he kidnapped you for five hours and tied you to a chair, he then shot your boyfriend before coming into the hospital and almost murdering him, you were simply defending him" I nodded 
"yeah that's right.." He smiled,
"oh and we got the footage from the hospital room he was in as proof" I nodded once more, my smile growing, 
"ready?" He asked,
"let's do this" I exclaimed.

As we made our way there we stopped at a traffic light, my eyes wandered out the window to see that in the car next to us was Rec- Bert. He looked at me and smirked slightly, I glared, at him he stuck his middle finger in the air as his car sped off into the direction of the court. I once again grew nervous as I noticed a large scab along his throat. It was near the place I held the knife at the hospital a week earlier, but it's obvious that he had been picking at it.. I didn't even make him bleed! and I have proof of that! 

As we neared the court my stomach decided to do a magic trick and make me throw up, I made my lawyer stop the car as I ran out and threw up behind a tree, 
"are you okay..?" He asked covering his eyes from the other side of the bush
"Yeah I'm just nervous that Berts going to lie his way out of it  somehow.." He sighed and helped me back to the car
"we have too much evidence for him to 'lie his way out of it' just take a deep breath" I nodded and slid back into the car.

We pulled up into the car park and I noticed Mums car parked outside aswell as Reckless'
"okay.. we made it 2 minutes early.. ready..?" He said gathering his stuff from the back seat 
"I don't think I'll ever really be ready to go to court.. but we'll have to put up with it won't we." He nodded as we stepped out of the car.  

"they'll put us in a room at the back until it's time for us to go in there, just to go over our evidence and put together what we're going to say, now remember, they will give you the right to remain silent but that'll only make the judge angry, speak up, and never over the judge, got it?" He said sternly.

"I know.. my cell mate went over what to do and what not to do in court.." 
"Now just remember to act as though you are confident that you're going to win this, we can get bert put away for all he has done.." I nodded.
"let's go inside before I pass out" he laughed and began walking towards the building.

We sat in the back room in silence, I remember some other things that could get Bert in trouble, but after that we had nothing to talk about,  I had my head placed onto the table infront of me as we waited for my name to be sounded over the P.A system.

"I love you so much baby girl, you're my world" I kept hearing Jasons voice in the back of my head, that was the only thing keeping me from bursting into tears, I wanted to know if he was alright.. if he still had a pulse, Bert could've gotten back to him while I was in jail and.. I won't even go there. 

"Destiny... Faye... Willows. Please enter the court room" a boring like voice said over the system 
"Destiny...Faye... Willows" the voice repeated itself.

My lawyer smiled,
"let's go and win this case" he smiled once more and I stood up and followed him into the room, I walked in slowly, my eyes at my toes, I didn't want to look up and look at every ones judging faces, all thinking the same things, Half way across the court room i finally got the courage to look up and look around.

My eyes scanned across the room, Dad was standing hand in hand with Mum,a confident look on his face and a worried look on mums face. I bit my lip and looked over the other side to see Bert standing there looking proud of himself, he looked me up and down before rolling his eyes and looking off. I was just about to look back down at my toes when I noticed a familiar face. 

Jason. He stood there in a suit, looking all dressed up and a bandage around the back of his neck, she smiled sweetly at me and mouthed 
'You can do it, I know you can, I love you'  I smiled and looked back down at my feet.

knowing he was safe and here gave me that confidence boost I needed to win this.
