Sky watched Virtue City from the deck as the airship flew back to Sin City. She was in her bloodstained uniform. John had ordered her to leave the auction with the other servants after what White Hair did. False Duchess would look for people to blame to calm the residents. And the servants from Sin City would be the perfect target.
Relief washed over her after she killed Princess. But a small part of her couldn't help but think of what Princess had said. Was she telling the truth? If she wasn't in Sin City when Sandie died, then John and Barbie had lied to her.
It can't be. They know how much ah loved Sandie. She was the only family ah had left. Ah trust their word more than that of Princess.
Sky rubbed her tired eyes and thought of White Hair. He was a thief, after all.
Something passed in her peripheral vision. She followed the line of sight and saw two men perched on an airbike. Ah never knew they flew that high.
Sky had been to cities with more advanced airbikes. They called them hoverbikes. While the airbikes used large fans to propel them off the ground, the hoverbikes had anti-gravity technology. But Sky was glad Virtue City was embracing airbikes. It wouldn't be long before Sin City had them.
The airbike headed for the A DIAPER A DAY KEEPS THE SHIT AWAY billboard.
Sky balled her hands out of excitement. She was about to witness an explosion.
But before the airbike crashed into the billboard, one man jumped off and headed for the airship. He wasn't far away from the airship, so he wouldn't suffer severe injuries when he landed.
The man landed a few feet away from her while the airbike hit the billboard and exploded. Many colors filled the air and chased away the darkness below. The billboard's hinges groaned. It had swayed for a bit before it stood still.
Sky went to the man who landed on the airship and gasped once she got close. It's White Hair. He also didn't have his mask on. His plump lips, broad nose, and large eyes were standard features among Sin City residents.
She kneeled beside him and brushed her hand on the mechanical wings White Hair hugged. He also had a satchel over his shoulder. She slapped his face. "Hey, wake up."
"Where am I?" he asked after opening his eyes. He looked dazed as he glanced left and right.
"Ya are in Heaven."
"Wait, I died?"
"Ya. Ma name is Angel, and ah am ya Guardian Angel."
"An angel named Angel?" He chuckled. "What's next? A chicken named Hen? A man named Male? A woman named Tomato?"
Sky raised a brow. "Tomato?"
White Hair looked at her. "I know you from somewhere, Freckles."
"Shh." Sky patted his head. "No need to think of dat." She pinched his nose and covered his mouth. He struggled to breathe. She held firm until he lost consciousness.
She took the wings from him. Is this what he stole? They must be worth a fortune. She removed the satchel from his shoulder and slung it over hers. Heavier than ah expected.
"Ah heard a noise," a voice said from behind her. Sky turned and saw a female servant. She was one of those who cried after Muscle Man patted them. She noticed White Hair. "Hey, everyone, come and see this!"
The other servants rushed out. Sky had expected them to come out because of the explosion, not this.
"What is it?" a male servant asked.
"Look." The female servant pointed at White Hair. "He's the one who was being chased by the guards. We can get a lot of gold coins if we hand him over to Lady Camilla."
Sky sighed. Smart bastards.
She could kill them, but that would weigh on her conscience. She never harmed innocent people, knowingly.
She stood and wore the wings, strapping the belt buckle around her waist and shoulders. She wasn't in a state to fight. Fatigue conquered her muscles and ordered her to rest.
"He's mine!" a male servant said and ran towards Sky. Before he reached her, another male servant had grabbed him by the collar and pulled him back. It didn't take long before the servants fought each other. Poverty was a cruel thing. Those in dire need would do anything for a piece of gold.
When they weren't paying attention to her, Sky lifted Don and placed him on the railing. The airship flew over Sin City's dumping grounds. Sky gagged after inhaling the foul smell.
"She's escaping with our reward!" a female servant shouted. They stopped fighting and turned to Sky.
Ah hope ah don't regret saving him. Sky had pushed White Hair off the railing before she jumped off the airship.
