SAPPHIRA
“What a weirdo!” I thought to myself as Aldrien Arsandia was contemplating the idea of crossing the town border.
“Ummm…so you just step over from here to here and that’s it?” said Aldrien to me pointing to the ground with his finger.
“Duh! Hurry up before the ground swallows you up!” I mocked him with my arms waving frantically in the air.
“Very funny. You’re supposed to cater to my every need remember. So play nice or I’ll certainly make a slave of you.”
“We’ll see who makes what out of whom” I glowered at him, drawing out my sharp canines.
“We’re almost there.” Lord Zarion stated without looking back at us glowering at each other.
We stepped into the clearing and into my little town. I felt a feeling of dread creep into the back of my mind. If Ropta wins the Neither world will plunge into evil. That fact concerned me less than the fate of my village. It would be destroyed as his army came marching through. The only home I’ve known, gone. I know I’m being a bit over dramatic but if little Mr.Aldrien doesn’t do his job my worst fears would eventually come to pass.
“Wow this town is a lot nicer than what I used to live in.” said Aldrien surprised.
“And has hotter chicks too.” He added winking at a Siren as he passed by it.
“You do realize you just winked at a Siren right? And in what world are slimy scaly creatures hot?” I exclaimed with disgust.
“Siren? Dude look at her…Oh wait siren as in monster guised at hot chicks who lure you and eat you up?” He said with a confused look upon his face nodding towards the creature.
“Ya think? Your eyes will eventually get accustomed. Since you have magic in your blood you can recognize other magical creatures as well. It’ll just take some time I guess.” I told him.
He was staring at me with a weird expression.
“What?” I barked at him.
“Oh! Nothing. I was just thinking. Forget it.” He covered up quickly changing the expression on his face.
“Say it or I swear I’ll claw you to death”
“I’m pretty sure you’ll claw me to death if I DO tell you.” He winked and walked past me to join the elders, leaving me wondering.
I felt like giving him a kick as he walked past me. Moron!
Let me describe Aldrien Arsandia to you. Kind of a tall bloke (but I guess that’s only because he’s a head taller than me. Jet black hair that waved about, neither long nor short. Dark eyes that seemed almost filled with a weird sort of power. He was well-built for his frame (but if you asked me I’d say he was a bit on the skinny side). He’s what the ordinary girls would call ‘hot’ but to me he looked no better than the Siren (in their true form mind you).
“Hey weregirl! Take a picture, it’ll last longer.” He said grinning just as he entered the town hall through the large doors.
“We’re already there?” I wondered. I can’t believe I was gaping at him openly.
I was pissed off at myself. I looked around to notice the townsfolk gathering around.
“I better go in quickly” I thought as I ran into town hall.
“Sapphira I know you are worried but that is no excuse to lag behind and become distracted. We need you at your fullest potential.” Lord Ramon said in a disappointed voice.
Behind him Aldrien was sniggering quietly. The nerves on that guy! Just moments ago he was a clueless little boy wandering into a world of monsters and now he was acting like he owned the place!
“Sorry sire” I apologized.
“We better go and meet Lord Karmofh. He will be waiting for us.” Said Lord Ramon.
Lord Karmofh was the big daddy of the town elders. He was one of Princess Ismira’s personal advisers before he decided to lead the council elders. I had never met him before. Rarely anyone had. But they’re a first for everything.
We went up the stairs and turned into a deserted corridor. The corridor had but one door at the end. The doors we’re pretty big and carved with intricate details and its aura told me it was also bewitched.
Lord Ramon knocked at the door and waited.
“Enter” and ancient voice replied after a few second passed.
The doors opened on their own accord and we went through them. (DUH!)
