2 days later - (Y/N)'s POV
It has been two days since my fight with Shinra. The instructors at the Tokyo Police Academy were impressed with our skill set; before we knew it, the Rookie Fire Soldier Games were upon us. It was thanks to my old man for informing us at such short notice; otherwise, we would have missed the event.
I was surprised to learn that Company 7 was also participating this year despite being inexperienced. I am nervous because I may meet the man I married, whom I have never met.
I have heard that the captain of the 7th Company is the strongest fire soldier on the force due to his ability to wield both 2nd and 3rd generation powers, although I have never met him or his Lieutenant.
That puts me in the same boat as him.
I am capable of manipulating both second and third generation powers, and I am a dual kinetic, which means I can control both fire and ice. These abilities make me superior to him.
I was at the training grounds of the Tokyo Police Academy with my Company. The T.P.A and Hajima Industries had prepared the grounds for us. We were busy with our checks, and as I looked around, I hoped to catch a glimpse of Company 7's Captain.
Suddenly, I was interrupted from my thoughts when someone gently patted my shoulder. I quickly turned around and saw a tall man with his hair tied back in a ponytail. He had a long scar running horizontally between his nose and eyes and was dressed in a blue kimono.
He smiled at me, and I bowed in respect.
"Hello, Miss. I'm Konro Sagamiya. Lieutenant of the 7th," As I relaxed, Konro politely introduced himself and I responded with a bright smile. I welcomed him warmly to make him feel at ease.
"Hello, Konro-San. I'm (Y/N) Obi of the 8th Rookie fire soldier. It's a pleasure to meet you." I bowed again as Konro hesitantly waved his hand in front of me, wearing a cautious smile.
"Please don't bow to me, Oku-San! I can't have Waka's wife bow to me!" I chuckle and nod as Konro exclaims.
"Ok, Konro-San. I won't bow again, but just so you know, it's good manners." I responded with a beaming smile. "It's surprising to see the 7th join this year's Rookie Fire Solider games." Konro smiled and scratched his head shyly.
"Yeah, I managed to convince Waka to participate this year in hopes that he could meet with you," I placed my hand on Konro's arm and he began to explain. I gave him a gentle pat to show that I was listening.
"We're both proto-nationalists here, Konro-San. I don't believe in this bloody sun god nor side with Hajima." I beamed as Konro relaxed.
"The temple and Hajima need to know the strength of the 7th and that we're not some stray dogs. We bite when needed." I nodded as Konro declared firmly.
"Well said, Konro-San." I grinned as the alarm blared, signaling the start of the opening ceremony. "I gotta go back and join my Company. Hopefully, when I am around Asakusa, I'll have to visit you," Konro-San smiled and nodded, and I responded in kind.
"Please do. Waka and the twins would love to have you around." I bid farewell to Konro-San; I couldn't help but smile at his invitation as I went to join Company 8.
The opening ceremony went smoothly as each company's captain or lieutenant exhibited their skills. I watched in awe as the captain of the 7th company displayed his abilities with the matoi, moving it gracefully through the air.
The Hikeshi began chanting "Seiya soiya" as the tips of the matoi caught fire, displaying a mesmerizing display of grace and beauty that left me completely entranced.
The man before me was my husband, Konro-San, called Waka. As he finished his performance, our eyes met briefly, and I couldn't help but admire his unique eyes. However, he soon turned his back to me, and it was then my turn to perform.
My old man patted me on the back a little too hard and gave me the thumbs up. Company 8 followed his lead, and I couldn't help but smile as I walked towards the centre of the training ground.
I closed my eyes and took a deep breath, recalling my training in Hokkaido. Slowly, I unsheathed my sword, its blade already enveloped in flames. As I moved gracefully with my sword, I swung it to the side.
As my dance neared its end, I added the finishing touch to my piece. Sparks flew from the blade as I sheathed it, and I ended my piece. Silence filled the air until someone clapped. Looking up, I saw my old man clapping, and then the 8th, and everyone else followed suit.
I smiled, bowed, and ran to my company as everyone congratulated me and patted my back.
"As expected, you outshined everyone." As I rolled my eyes, my father wiped away tears.
"Seriously, old man?! Quit with the waterworks," I smiled as my father quickly wiped away my tears, flashing his pearly whites at me.
ALL ROOKIE FIRE SOLDIERS, PLEASE REPORT TO THE OBSTACLE COURSE. I REPEAT! CAN ALL ROOKIE FIRE SOLDIERS PLEASE REPORT TO THE OBSTACLE COURSE!
The announcement signalled us to head to the obstacle course, where Shinra and I joined the other rookies in line.
"In this course, your objective is to put the dummy infernal to rest, save the civilians, and escort them to safety." I paid close attention to the instructions, comprehending what was required of us. I made sure to understand the task altogether.
"On your marks. Get set. GO!"
