*Hears someone singing a beautiful lullaby* - M-Mom?!?! Is that you?! *Bells start ringing* Mom!? Are you there??
Suddenly I wake up back in my bed at Serenity Home, my orphanage. I lost my parents when I was four and have been living here ever since, it has been ten years since I have visited my old home. Today I'm going to start 9th grade at Angelwood High. It is also the ten-year anniversary of the day that I lost my parents. So, I'm not going to make what you would call "a good first impression."
I decently get dressed and covered my ruby eye with a strand of hair. It's a curse, I was always bullied because of it. Since I don't have any siblings, I don't know if it is a family thing or if I really am a "monster". I also have natural red highlights in my hair but those aren't as terrifying to most people because they just think I permanently dyed my hair. As I put on my hat which used to belong to my mom, I feel some bumps on my head. I was already late, so I focused on hiding them and getting to school. Today I am looking decent, I am wearing a red beret, that used to belong to my mom, with a red tank top, black ripped jeans, and a thin black denim jacket to go with it.
And yes, that is a photo of one of my eyes, the other one is dark brown. I tend to hide the red eye because it usually scares people. No, those highlights aren't dyed. It's my actual hair color, somehow instead of fading to light brown, it fades to red. Honestly don't get it but red is my favorite color so I can't really complain.
My first class was history, I wasn't paying much attention since I was still confused from this morning. I was ready for break but then I see a group of older kids coming towards me, I thought they were just passing by but later I noticed they were coming to talk to me.
The most popular group of the entire High was coming to talk to me, and I was not up to dealing with Brittney annoying me about it later at Serenity Home, she has had a crush on one of them since she came to this school, which was 1 year ago. So, I just ignored them, didn't say a word. When I got back to Serenity Home almost everyone knew I had ignored the most popular people of the entire High and it wasn't nice. Brittney decided to beat me up and gave my red eye a black one to go with it. She loves getting the attention drawn to her and when the people decided to come to talk to me, again, instead of talking with her she got extremely mad.
Since I'm not the type of person that gives someone what they want, to get me in trouble or attention, just because they demand it. I decided to ask my favorite caretaker, Ms. Julian, for ice for my eye. She oversees the kitchen, main hall and hates Brittney since she is always causing fights and getting in trouble.
I got back to my room that I share with my best friend, Jade. Here's a quick summary of her. She has brown hair, green eyes, tan skin, and a weird but cool birthmark on her arm, it kind of looks like a dragon face if you look closely enough. She has a kind and caring personality but will hurt anyone that bothers her close friends. We were the first orphans living here in Serenity Home and the ones that have stayed here the longest. On the first day we met, we had made a pact to ourselves, we promised each other that we would either both get adopted or none of us would leave. We are like sisters; we would do anything for each other. We have gone through a lot together and if there is anyone that can cheer me up after something challenging has occurred, it would be her.
Ruby - "Hey"
Jade - "Hey, what happened to you??"
Ruby - "Just Brittney again, and yes I do know one day I'll have to beat HER up. But for now, I would like to get this homework done and go out with my favorite girl and get some ice-cream!!!"
Jade - "I'm definitely up for that but let's go out tomorrow, I am extremely tired."
Ruby- "Fair enough. Tomorrow then."
When I finished my homework, I read for half an hour and then we both went to sleep.
