It has been a few months since Chad and Leila got together, and they were so in love with each other it was sickening. They both had a desire to audition for the school musical, but had ultimately decided against it. It was too risky. What would the basketball team say? How would the Blonde Tornado react? There were too many issues involved for it to be worth it.
So why were they in the auditorium getting ready for their audition?
To put it simply, Troy.
He caught them in the tree house singing together, and asked them why they hid their talents from everyone. He lectured them for an hour and a half about "wasting their potential" and " not living up to their worth" before the couple gave in and promised to audition.
"Next!" Mrs. Darbus called.
They were up.
Leila inhaled deeply.
"Hey," Chad whispered to her, "we are going to kill this. You are so talented. Let's do this." He squeezed her hand and the pianist Kelsi started playing their music.
Chad:
Do you hear me,
I'm talking to you
Across the water across the deep blue ocean
Under the open sky, oh my, baby I'm tryingLeila:
Boy I hear you in my dreams
I feel your whisper across the sea
I keep you with me in my heart
You make it easier when life gets hardBoth:
I'm lucky I'm in love with my best friend
Lucky to have been where I have been
Lucky to be coming home againOh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh
They don't know how long it takes
Waiting for a love like this
Every time we say goodbye
I wish we had one more kiss
I'll wait for you I promise you, I willI'm lucky I'm in love with my best friend
Lucky to have been where I have been
Lucky to be coming home againLucky we're in love in every way
Lucky to have stayed where we have stayed
Lucky to be coming home somedayAnd so I'm sailing through the sea
To an island where we'll meet
You'll hear the music fill the air
I'll put a flower in your hair
Though the breezes through the trees
Move so pretty you're all I see
As the world keeps spinning round
You hold me right here right nowI'm lucky I'm in love with my best friend
Lucky to have been where I have been
Lucky to be coming home againI'm lucky we're in love in every way
Lucky to have stayed where we have stayed
Lucky to be coming home somedayOh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh ohThey finished the song and the auditorium was silent.
Until Mrs. Darbus cheered loudly and everyone else followed. Save for the Blonde Tornado, who looked like she was going to throw up.
"Well done you two! Bravo! Brava!" Mrs Darbus cheered.
Chad and Leila exited the stage, both ecstatic.
"We were so good!" Leila squealed .
"We were," Chad replied with a smile.
He leaned down to his beautiful girl and kissed her.
