Allyson Soriano

It was heartbreaking.

Chrissa and Liam were my friends and my family. I even thanked dad for sending them to me just because he can't do it himself anymore - to be with me.

But the happiness I had when they came into my life doubled and became pain instead.

This is too much and I hate it.

"Allys." I gazed at the food, not even touching it for too long and knowing Nox, he notices everything.

I sighed.

"I want to sleep."

Days had passed just like that. Me, waking up daily and Nox, making sure I wouldn't skip a single meal.

Nox had been silent about it. But no doubt, I know that he knew everything - how I talk with Chrissa and Liam that day, what I felt, and even how I am feeling right now. And he understands it.

But then..

"Are you also going to betray me?" One day, I couldn't help but ask.

We were at the workroom, him silently reading a book and me, doing stuffs on my laptop for a new work. A story involving depression.

He gave me a glance. We had a distance from each other but his stares gave me chills. It was cold.

"I don't like you doubting me so this is the first and last time that I wanna hear that from you. Nor me, answering such questions from you." he paused.

"I will never." he uttered without batting an eye and took a leave away from the workroom.

I thought he'll be just back but hours had passed and it was already 7:00 p.m.

I went outside to check him out but he wasn't there. I searched even my room. Until, I thought of the balcony where I usually stays and he follows me.

I slowly opened the door through it and it wasn't a mistake. He was there.

But it was more beyond than what I expected.

Without giving much thoughts, I found myself walking in.

Just above the ceiling outside the balcony, lights from the numerous blue and white little lighted bulbs with different shapes, mostly are stars, gave light. It was even sticked upon the ceiling at different heights.

It's beautiful and the whole thing shouted magic. Especially him.

"May I ask you for a date?" he asked with a smile, plastered on his face while holding three blue roses as well, tied together by a white ribbon.

Blue is so vague. It had it's different meanings. But this whole thing and Nox. It signified coldness - the night and him.

I can't help but to smile back as well while looking at everything.

The balcony was huge enough for a small table to fit inside with two chairs, idly standing besides each other as well.. just like how it did that night too.

Foods were all over the table. Wine, yes. Cans of alcohol, yes too. And even a cake which I can't possibly know the purpose of. It's not even my birthday.

There were lights from the whole place too and not just the ceiling.

Christmas lights hanging and snaking upon the railings. White and blue.

The only colors used inside, on the lights and even materials, are blue and white. It wasn't dark and instead, it was bright enough to eat here.. also considering the light coming from the nightsky.

Pft.

Guess vampires do have real speed too, just like in the movies and books. Humanity didn't fail at that idea.

There were two chairs standing by each other and so, I chose to sat at the right side as he sat beside me too, only to see each other with our comfy pajamas while surrounded with these wonderful things.

It seemed that he thought the same too when he chuckled with me as well.

We started eating and I settled with a slice of a cake which he got me and wine. He really did prepare everything and it's making me smile.

"Allyson." he called me out and he became serious all of a sudden.

"Is it tough?" he asked and gave me a worried look. He's at it again. All he knows is to worry and be upset when thinking about what happened.

"It's bearable Nox." I answered but it didn't give him relief at all and instead, he opened his mouth again to speak.

"Allyson, your dad... I am pretty sure he doesn't like you, being in tough and painful situations like this." I know. He never did. I can even hear his rant. He is somehow, the same as Nox. His nags, at that.

"Forgive and forget, Allys." Even at that statement, I can hear dad too. Of course, that was how he taught me. To continue on my own life and not let anyone disturb my peace. And even if they did, it won't be completely. I will leave some for myself.

"I will, Nox." And thinking about it. A day will probably arrive for me to forgive, or more possibly, to forget him too.

He's a vampire. He is pale. He had red lips. He has fangs. He'll seek blood. He is cold.

And he won't stay with me forever. That's a truth that I concluded on my own.

That he was a vampire and I am a human being and that anything that is running unto my mind right now isn't possible.

It can't be.

We finished eating and I found myself, drinking alcohol from the can. It was still cold.

Silence and cold wind at night, I sat at the balcony with Nox while holding it.

"The stars.." I uttered, deciding to break the silence and ignoring my thoughts, while looking above the sky that was highlighted with the moon, and of course being surrounded by the endless count of stars.

"They're alive," I continued and saw Nox beside me, fill his eyes by the stars as well. He looked so pure.

"People dies and when they do, they live again." I paused, while remembering dad. He told me this afterall. And I believed it. Still. It is a hope that I must cling unto to live another tomorrow. It's a necessity.

"They become stars and..."

"And see their loved ones from above." Nox cut me off as if he already knew about it.

I looked at him, only to see his sparkling eyes as he turned his gaze on me too.

Sitting at a small chair, feeling the coldness of the wind and coldness of the can of alcohol on my hands, I suddenly felt nervous.

"I never thought I'll be sharing the same nightsky with you again, my lady." he whispered but I was able to hear it.

I couldn't understand but he never gave me a reason to do so when I lost my mind the moment looked at me with his deep, cold eyes.

He places his left hand behind me at the chair as he leaned closer to me.

It was slow and I heard his breathing so loudly.. just like how I heard my heartbeat that could be possibly get out from my chest right now.

I felt his breathing unto my skin and before I knew it, his soft and cold red lips landed on mine.

And it happened again.

My eyes closed and felt his lips moving. I kissed him back as I felt his right hand, supporting me from my back.

I can feel everything from him. His body.

His coldness.

But then, for almost a thousand times, it appeared warm to me. And if this is the coldness that only him could bestow, then I want to keep this coldness forever.
