So what happens if my partner and I aren't a good fit?

It's natural, when in a partnership, to not like your pairing. You're with that person for weeks on end, and sometimes personalities clash.

Maybe your partner doesn't agree with you, or you don't like their book, or their feedback is just not hitting the mark.

This is why I made the bookclub. I will try my best to pair you, but I may not always get it right!

It can be really hard finding someone that 'gets you' and your work. People can have differing opinions on what is an error, and what isn't. And honestly, that's fine. It's an opinion. You, as the other partner, have to decide if you value that feedback or not. If you don't, and find it more annoying than helpful, then we can open up a dialogue or change partners.

The point of this bookclub is to try and bring people together that would make decent pairings. It's a bit like dating, and may take some starting over 🤣

If you don't like your partner, then:

⭕ PM me. I will talk it through and see if it's something to resolve

⭕ You may have to start over and wait for a new partner

That being said, this is not a bookclub to only talk about how awesome your stuff is. Partners will be pointing out areas that they think need an improvement. This is an opinion on the story, not of you.

There may even be times where you partner is a little forward with how much they dislike something. If you have a problem, I'll check it out, but as long as the partner genuinely pointed something out, I won't give them a strike or anything for it. I can't help it if you don't agree with what they suggested. That's a part of this process. You're never going to agree with the critics.

Taking it personally, as long as they pointed it out with taste, is not something I can help with :/ I hate that I can't make this a smooth, wonderful ride, but it's a part of taking on a critique partner.

That being said, I don't want to see arguments in the comments. You can disagree, or even prod them with questions. You might not understand it, or maybe you want to see if they read it wrong. That's fine. But if it gets to a point where you are calling them names, etc. please just message me instead.

What do I do if I come across a scene that I don't like? As in, say you love the story but hate erotic scenes and one of them appears in the wild, like watching cartoons one night and then Adult Swim comes on? (Am I allowed to say 'I hope that didn't age me?' I don't know if I am old enough for that yet xD) Or the story gets darker than you thought it would? Or something happens to the MC that you just cannot get over?

⭕ PM me. I will talk it through and see if it's something to resolve. It might be as simple as figuring out how far the author takes it, or if it's just one or two scenes that you don't read. If it's a prevalent theme, then we might just move on to a different pairing
