I heard wing beats in the distance and asked the others,"Do you guys hear something strange?" Henry looked around and froze with fear in his eyes. I turned to where he was looking. Large dark figures were flying towards us. When I squinted, I saw that they had claws and maybe even fangs. It was probably dumb, but I wanted to get a closer look. "I'm going to go see what it is." Wisdom looked at me as if I had grown a third eye,"Rose, let me give you a bit of advice. When large dangerous creatures are after you, you go the other way." I rolled my eyes,"It'll be quick." Wisdom looked as if she were ready to object, but I had already gone.
I took off fast, which also wasn't very smart. When I thought I was close enough, I paused. I couldn't get too close, though. There was nowhere to hide in the sky.
I saw that there were dragons. Probably about eight of them. On each one, there was a man. They were dressed in armor and swords hung at their sides. Some were archers and had bows sling over their shoulders. I wasn't sure if they were good or bad. Why did it have to be dragons, out of all creatures? Most creatures were born being good or evil. Pegasus were naturally good. Manticorns were naturally evil. But with dragons, you could never tell. Some were good, some were bad. You never knew until you truly met them.
Then a man turned to my direction and was in plain sight because there was nowhere to hide. His eyes widened as he pointed to me and yelled at his comrades, "That's her! Someone go capture her!" I flew away as fast as I could.
When I got back to the others, I was panting heavily,"P-People! Soldiers in armor and weapons! They're coming! Get ready to fight!" That was when I turned around to see an arrow flying past me. They had caught up.
All the Oracles drew their weapons. I saw Henry panicking,"I don't know how to fight! I don't even have a weapon!" I flew to him and quick rummaged through one of the satchels. I pulled out a short sword about two feet long and threw it at him,"Here!" Then the enemy charged at us.
I may have had wings and the enemy didn't, but the fight was still difficult. I didn't know how to fight. All I ever did with my bow was hunt and hunting was way easier than fighting. I man and his dragon came at me with the dragon breathing out fire and the man had a sword drawn. I quickly dodged. I pulled out an arrow and instead of shooting it, because the man was too close, I jammed it into his sword hand. He howled in pain and fury and I made my escape. When I was at a distance I glanced around.
Honor was fighting two men while wielding two swords. Wisdom had a crossbow and shot at anyone who got close. Moon was clawing at an enemy dragon while trying to keep the Oracles from falling off her. Justice fought with a sword in one hand and a knife in the other, slicing at every enemy in sight. Agility grabbed some firewood from one of his packs, had Dawn set each one on fire, and threw them at his targets. Meanwhile, Beauty and Ocean took advantage of Ocean's small size and flew around the enemy, disorienting them and swooping in with Beauty holding a dagger. They all were holding out quite well. It was Obsidian I was worried about. I saw him spewing flames at the enemy and Henry blindly swinging his sword around while they were swarmed.
Obsidian had told me that my quiver could summon different types of arrows, but I had never actually tried it before. I reached into my quiver and hoped that I would get what I wanted, no needed. I pulled out and arrow that was larger than my normal ones. I wanted to take a closet look at it, but Henry and Obsidian were still in trouble, so I tried to aim the arrow as accurate as I could get it and fired.
It hit in between three dragons and went off. Sparks flew everywhere as the enemy tried to get away from the explosion. I reached for another arrow, this time not thinking about what kind I wanted. A normal arrow was pulled and I shot it at the closest warrior. Another arrow flew at him at the same time as mine. He cried out in fury as each one implanted itself into the openings of his armor. I looked where the other arrow had come from. It came from Wisdom, but for some reason, she seemed to look...guilty.
I was distracted for too long. Something heavy ran into me. I made an attempt to grab one of my arrows and fire it blindly, but before I could, I felt something pierce my shoulder. Once more a powerful force hit me and I could feel myself getting dizzier.
As I slipped into unconsciousness, I heard Obsidian yell my name and felt myself falling.
