(I'm so sorry for being late! Online schooling has increased lately, and all my inspiration went out the drain T-T I'll do my best to keep updates consistent from now on!)
A cold breeze blew against Kaminari's face as he stepped outside the U.A. dorms.
He gazed up at the dark sky and thought about his new plan. He was gonna win over Jirou. Those three weeks he'd been given had been spent waiting on opportunities that he never took. Hell, he hadn't even flirted with her a little bit.
This time was gonna be different. He was gonna flirt with her and she'd like him back then she'd confess to him and they'd live happily ever after.
At least, that's what he hoped would happen.
Kaminari gulped his juice box. The night was peaceful -- the only sounds he could hear were the gentle wind and crickets chirping.
Then a voice.
If the night wasn't so quiet he probably wouldn't have heard it. Soft humming echoed through the air.
Jirou.
He walked to where he heard it from, and sure enough Jirou was leaning against a tree, eyes closed. She was illuminated by a street light, showing her tapping her finger against the trunk for a beat. Her lips were slightly parted to let out a husky melody.
"You're good."
Jirou jumped and her eyes shot open. Her face and body relaxed when she met eye contact with Kaminari.
"What are you doing out here?!"
"Same as you." He laughed, strolling over to her. "Just enjoying the outdoors."
"Can't sleep?"
"Yeah."
They stayed in silence for a few moments, looking at the sky.
"I meant what I said, though. You're really good." He glanced at her.
Jirou twirled her Earphone Jack. "Oh, I don't think I--"
"Why do you do that?"
She gave him a confused look. "What do you mean?"
"You always deny whatever people compliment about you."
"I don't--"
"And you get embarrassed. Your face is red."
Jirou touched her cheek and pressed her lips together. "It's just um, a habit, I guess."
"You don't have to be so modest all the time," he teased.
"I'm not trying to be! I just... I don't know..."
Kaminari tilted his head in question.
"Nevermind," Jirou said. She snatched the juice box out of Kaminari's hand and took a long sip, then let out a little sigh of happiness. Both made Kaminari's heart start to pump faster and faster.
She smiled at him. "You always have the best drinks."
His face grew hot. "Um, isn't that--" his voice cracked, causing Jirou to let out a fit of giggles. He cleared his throat.
"Isn't that what?"
He pretended to scratch his ear and glanced away from her. "Isn't that kinda a, uh, indirect kiss?"
Kaminari regretted those words the second they left his mouth.
Jirou nudged his shoulder playfully. "Are you a schoolgirl or something?"
"Whatever!" he snatched the juice back. He didn't know if he wanted to keep drinking it though.
Jirou laughed, then laid her head against the tree and closed her eyes. Kaminari couldn't help but notice a freckle on her cheek. The way her lashes cast a small shadow on her face. Her pink lips.
He could write an entire essay on how cute Jirou's face was.
"Um, Kaminari?"
"Yeah?" He averted his stare, even though her eyes remained closed. Better safe than sorry.
She opened her eyes but looked at the ground. "Um, so I just wanna ask something. I mean it's kinda stupid but still, so, um..."
"Yeah?"
She brushed a strand of purple hair behind her ear. "Do you..." she started. "Actually, nevermind."
"Now I'm curious," he pressed.
"You have to give me your juice box in exchange."
Kaminari grinned. This petty side of Jirou was something he weirdly enjoyed.
"Fine." He passed it to her and tried to ignore her lips as they made an 'o' around the straw. Jirou took another long sip.
"Are you gonna tell me?"
Jirou picked at her sleeve. Her pants were long at least, but her shirt was just a T-shirt. Kaminari also wore one, but he'd always been pretty cold-resistant. Jirou on the other hand had goosebumps along her arms.
"Ugh," Jirou groaned. "Do you think I'm pretty?"
Kaminari's mind froze. Pretty? Pretty?! He'd been thinking about her beautiful face for over a month now! Could he just say she was? Would she take it wrong? He couldn't just say no--
"Don't make it weird," she mumbled. "And you don't have to lie to me."
"You're pretty!"
He wanted to hurl himself into the sun at the sight of her shocked face.
"Are you being serious?"
"Don't make it weird! But yeah, you're pretty uh, pretty." He gave an awkward small laugh.
"Oh, um-- thanks."
"Uh, welcome."
Crickets loudly chirped.
"I guess I'll go back to my dorm," Jirou said.
She rubbed her arms, making Kaminari remember his promise. He stepped in front of her.
He pulled his hoodie over his head.
"What are you doing?!"
He smirked at her flustered expression and tossed his hoodie to her. "Here."
She caught it and frowned. "What's this for?"
"I'm giving my cold fake-girlfriend something to keep her warm," he winked.
Jirou snorted and put it on. He almost wanted her to steal it from him. It was definitely too big, but it just made her look adorable. Plus the fact that it was his hoodie. On Jirou.
"Thanks." She smiled in a way he couldn't tell if it was genuine or not. "Well, see you tomorrow."
"Yeah, see you."
That night, Kaminari dreamt of hoodies and dates.
Plan "Win Over Jirou" was in motion.
