A Fangirl Story

Chapter 7

"I really want to go with you, but I have so much school works, mom won't allow me." Haeyoung looked down. She played with the tips of her hair, avoiding eye contact. 

"But we planned this for a really long time now. We promised to meet some xtrodinaties remember?" It's almost Seojun's birthday, N-XTRO's leader. He has one of the biggest fanbase among the group and some Chinese and Korean xtrodinaries pitched in to have him featured in Everland, which is like South Korea's Disney land. And I can't believe they actually approved! It was one of the Chinese xtrodinaries' idea to have Seojun themed park. I've been a fan for a long time now but it still surprises me how much money some fans are willing to splurge.

"I know, I'm really sorry Addy. I shouldn't have gone to that soccer tournament in Taiwan and miss class." Haeyoung sighed and pursed her lips. 

"No, don't say that. You've always wanted to join varsity and play abroad." I tried to console her. I guess she's as disappointed as I am. I shouldn't make her feel more bad that she should. 

"You should still go and tell me all about it. That would make me feel better." she adjusted her seat closer to the camera and gave a half-hearted smile.

I sighed, "I would, but it's not like I have anyone to go with."

"Oh psh. I'm sure you have tons of friends by now." she shook her head in disbelief. I wish.

"Pretty please Addy? You have to go!" she begged across the screen.

"I guess I could ask Jackson to go with me." I gave in. Great. Haeyoung cheered while I suffered in silence. I really want to go but I feel like it's too awkward to meet with xtrodinaries alone. And yes, I could ask Jackson to accompany me, but he's Jackson. This was not his thing. Haeyoung and I already decided to meet with a some xtrodinaries from this group chat and I am so not prepared to meet them alone.

After talking with Haeyoung I decided to text Jackson. He's not really into K-pop since he likes sad depressing music which is weird since he's the happiest person I know. And even though he's spontaneous and does all these adventures, he does not enjoy man made rides, which again, very weird. 

Me: Hey my only friend in Seoul. Can you come with me to Everland next Friday?

Jackson Song: Omg. Are you asking me out? 

Me: Don't be stupid please? I just need someone to go with since Haeyoung can't come. 

Jackson Song: Why so sudden though?

Me: Well, it's going to be Seojun's birthday and Everland will be filled with his face that day.

Jackson Song: Uck. Another N-XTRO thing? No hate though, I just... don't want to go

Me: Oh come one please?

Jackson Song: NO!

I ended up calling Jackson, and after an hour long discussion on why he should accompany me, he finally agreed. I told him to meet me by the entrance because I'll treat him his ticket. I started to get excited. First, because its been forever since I've been to Everland, second, because I'll be seeing Seojun's face everywhere and lastly, because I might finally make new friends.

"I'm going to Everland this weekend!" I announced to my family who were sat around the dining table, eating dinner. We barely do this back then when lived in Daejeon. These were rare moments for us, eating together as a family, but ever since we moved to Seoul, there wasn't a supper where we weren't complete. It was weird at first, but eventually I started to love it. I didn't realize how much I missed dad's old man jokes and mom's laughter.
