"A year ago, I found him at a water park, completely passed out." Namjoon started as he sips his black tea. "He was covered in blood, his teeth were sharp and his claws were out."
"And like any sane person, you took him home?" Jimin commented sarcastically.
"Of course, I am a scientist. It is only natural for me to conduct a study. We are here to acquire knowledge and to make something out of it."
"You don't have to define that for me." Jimin scoffs before glancing at the accent table, huffing in intrigue upon seeing an ash try and a lighter. "You smoke now?"
"No, he does." Namjoon points at Yoongi laying nearby. "If this area detects smoke, it encloses itself with ballistic glass and disinfects the area outside. I made this room solely for him so he can endanger his lungs without involving me."
"Well, you're blunt." Jimin winces at the thought before gazing at Yoongi's unconscious body, his arms cuffed on the sideways. Namjoon found it unnecessary but Jimin wouldn't risk it.
"There must be a reason why he went to the water park despite going bananas." Jimin muttered.
"Your vocabulary is shallow." Namjoon suddenly blurted out which made Jimin scoff with exaggeration.
"That was so uncalled for." Jimin huffs. "I know I'm the small brainer here, you don't have to diss me."
"I have wires that was tattered down by rats that I forgot to fix. No matter how much you say I'm a big brainer, I am still absent-minded." Namjoon just explains before continuing. "Also, it was difficult to tame him. Although, I was able to for half a month."
Jimin felt as if his jaw dropped on the floor. "Half a month?!" He stood from his stool as he aggressively points at the peaceful being on the bed. "Dude, that's the devil! DEVIL! The complete opposite of my lovely angel!"
"He is completely harmless to those with good intentions. Although his behavior was still that of a feral wolf, he was able to gain his consciousness back on his own - I was merely there to teach him how to act normal once again and treat his wounds." Namjoon takes another sip from his black tea. "Also, what rubbish are you talking about?"
"I will tell everything after. For now, I want answers. If he's harmless like you claim him to be, then why were his hands bloodied?"
"He brought you to me despite the 10-kilometer distance. On foot. You still think he's a monster?" Namjoon crosses his legs. "Also, ever since he was tamed, I've never felt the need to hold him captive. If anything, the blood on his skin earlier would not belong from a normal human being if that is what you are worried about. I thought you would know that, given the fact that the world has already deteriorated. Even seeing you survive is a miracle."
Jimin's lips were parted as everything slowly sinks in his mind, glancing back at Yoongi who is now in a normal form, snoring softly in his peaceful slumber.
He felt it heavy on his chest, suddenly feeling guilty of calling him a monster. He let his fear rule over, blinding him from the actual sacrifice that was right in front of his nose. Sure, it was the beast that made everything fall into what it is today, but like Yoonji, he was also just a victim of something so vile.
Jimin heaves out a heavy sigh as he caresses the cold metal that held Yoongi's wrist back. "Thank you." He tugs the key from Namjoon's grip and unlocks it. "And I'm sorry. I was passed out the whole trip, I could've just walked on my own and not add weight on your shoulders. Literally."
Namjoon puts his emptied cup on the desk. "I am glad you were there."
Jimin detaches himself from the holding the cuffs, scoffing. "You said it wrong, don't give me the credit. You said it yourself, he brought me here from the water park-" He suddenly paused mid-sentence, slowly turning his head to Namjoon.
"You said it's a 10-kilometer ride. How did you know?"
Namjoon stares at his friend, trying to read his reaction before sighing. "I made him a tracker back then which I, also, forgot where it was placed. I just remembered to make it again." He scratches his head. "Either way, when he was ready to zoom off on his own, the oceanarium was the only place he would come and go."
Jimin lets out a soft sigh as he nods. "The oceanarium, huh." He smiles bitterly to himself. "Now I don't know if going there was the right decision, or the timing was just wrong."
Namjoon taps his cup randomly. "I don't exactly know why oceanarium out of all. I wanted to examine his behavior with the said water park, but I can't risk going out of my laboratory for too long. I only wander to explore, I never go as far as the oceanarium ever since I found him. I would be lying if I say it's not dangerous outside."
"You don't think he would save you and all those shit?"
"I would not want to take advantage of him like that." Namjoon responded to which Jimin smiled sheepishly to.
"Also, he doesn't follow me whenever we go out, we're always in different ways with different goals for the day. This area is the only place I explore as well so I don't get too far from the lab. He would stare against the wall and weep silently when he goes home without seeing me. I don't know why he does that but I am afraid it would damage his mental state so I go home as early as possible."
Jimin found himself snorting at the story. "The devil has attachment issues."
"Either way, I'm grateful you brought Yoonji to me." Namjoon stood to give off a smile. "Thank you, Park."
"No prob-" Jimin pauses once again, his eyebrow slowly raising at his friend. He could understand it happening once but this time around, he feels like there is some shady business going on.
"I came here with Yoongi." Jimin gave puzzled gazes to Namjoon as he slowly stands from his seat.
Namjoon just looks at him. "Pardon me?"
Jimin laughs at the clueless reaction the latter was showing. "Hey now, stop playing around." His smile was then replaced with a sudden glare. "Is there something going on here, Namjoon?"
Namjoon stares at Jimin for good seconds before suddenly smirking to himself, giving Jimin the shivers he did not expect. "I would like to know too, Park."
"Namjoon." Jimin's eyes slowly grows wide, suddenly having a strange feeling bubbling in his stomach. "What is this about?"
Jimin never mentioned anything about Yoonji when they met and knowing the fact that she was abducted before he even met Yoongi rose a suspicion on the man. Namjoon is his best friend, but he has never seen him do his experiments, he was always on his books and in front of a monitor. Could he be one of those scientists he shouldn't trust?
Namjoon turned to look at Jimin, startling him at the sudden realization. His gaze were as if in complete void. What is happening to him? Who is this man?
"Jimin, you have to work for me." Namjoon's gaze went intense as he starts walking towards Jimin, the latter just takes heavy steps back as the atmosphere suddenly darkens.
Jimin glares at the said man. "Doctor-"
All of the sudden, a huge, deafening blast interrupted the strange tension between the two. They threw their hands to their heads, protecting themselves from the little debris that flew everywhere.
As it calmed down, they slowly turned their gazes at the direction of the destructive noise and found the wall suddenly destroyed open.
"God, I fucking hate tight security."
Jimin's pupils slowly dilated, his heart started beating at a rapid rate and his limbs shook at the sight.
"No way.."
