there's going to be a small spam that comes with this chapter!
remember how i said i was going to start writing hcs and one-shots? well, here they are lol
most of these are going to be for karasuno's boys and girls (+ukai, saeko, and takeda) but i'm probably going to make chapters for oikawa, iwaizumi, akaashi, bokuto, and the other main side characters
also, most of these are going to be more general hcs than "character x reader," save for the one-shots. there really isn't any reason but y'know lol
remember to vote and comment, stay hydrated, and love yourself. take care, and enjoy! :)

<<KARASUNO THIRD YEARS>>
-sawamura daichi
> daichi is not a coffee person. he hates the buzz it gives him and he feels like it makes him too shaky for volleyball. instead, he loves drinking tea in the morning, specifically earl gray or english breakfast blend, because they're traditional and why fix something that isn't broken?
> he gives the best hugs. he knows just how tight to squeeze and he never gives half-hearted hugs, plus he always smells amazing. he has a sturdy and comforting presence, so he's the go-to for hugs, especially among the first-years.
> if someone from the volleyball team calls him dad, that's the easiest way to get him to smile. it might be a little weird, considering he's only a third-year and he has no plans of being a parent anytime soon, but he treasures the respect and admiration his team has for him.
> when he gets genuinely angry (not the loving irritation he feels toward the One Braincell Committee) he goes quiet. he used to have a hard time controlling his anger and that made him yell things he never meant, so he's completely flipped the switch now. there's a strong difference between his yells and his silence and the team has vowed to never go that far.
- sugawara kōshi
> even though kōshi is referred to as the "mom" of the team, he actually sucks at baking and cooking. know what he's awesome at? knitting. everyone on the team has at least one scarf that he's given them for their birthday and they all absolutely adore it, even tsukishima and kageyama.
> kōshi is the best person to go to for literature and history tutoring. he loves books with a passion and it's also the easiest way to get to know him. if you mention kokoro by natsume soseki, or any other meiji-era writings, his eyes will light up and he can go on about it for ages. traditional japanese literature is his jam but he enjoys contemporary literature as well.
> he's the type of person that will learn languages for fun. although japanese is, of course, his mother tongue, he knows a passable amount of other western languages, such as english and french. if anyone asks, his excuse is simply "it was for fun!" but it's actually so he can read memes and books from other countries.
> kōshi loves writing as well. he has a collection of short stories and poems that he's hidden away in his room, all of which are written by him. when asahi and daichi came over one day for a study session, they found them and fell in love with his writing. he's the master of brevity but he's amazing at descriptions.
- azumane asahi
> asahi wakes up the earliest out of anyone on the team. he loves seeing the sunrise, in part because of his name. it reminds him of where he's come from and gives him the energy to get through the day as well.
> even though he and his friends joke about it, he actually has mild GAD (generalized anxiety disorder). he overthinks things easily and gets pretty bad headaches and back pain. volleyball helps him out immensely because he trusts his team more than he does himself. as long as they're there, all he has to worry about is the ball and the well-being of his team.
> he's a good artist. even outside of clothing design, he has quite a few sketchbooks full of drawings of his teammates and still life. it gives him something to do in his off time and it's cultivated over the course of his high school career. he's given daichi, kōshi, and kiyoko portraits as gifts for their birthdays. it's one of the only things he isn't self-conscious about.
> outside of volleyball, asahi has a pretty decent workout plan for the week, which (more often than not) includes a healthy amount of yoga. his favorite position is the supine twist. it helps him out a lot with his back pain and soothes his mind if the anxiety is too much.
- shimizu kiyoko
> kiyoko also has a pretty in-depth workout routine. she's actually taken up martial arts as a side hobby, but no one else knows. one day, someone tried to hit on yachi and made her extremely uncomfortable. the entire team gawked at kiyoko when she decked the guy and knocked him out, but instead of dissuading them, it only made her more beautiful in their eyes.
> between the four third-years, she's the biggest fan of reptiles and insects. she has a ball python named karasu and a komodo dragon named ryū. tanaka immediately thought she named the komodo dragon after him, but she's had ryū for five years.
> kiyoko is a really strong feminist. she believes that women should have the right to decide what they want to do with their bodies and absolutely denounces anyone, man or woman, that puts down girls without any good reason, especially if it's only for their appearance. she cannot stand girl hate and will not hesitate to throw down with someone that encourages it.
> she really doesn't like the idea of sex but she's in love with any other form of physical affection, which helps because she's really warm. when yachi joined the team and they grew closer as friends, they spend the night at each other's houses on weekends and cuddle on the couch and talk about literally anything that comes to mind. (she really loves yachi, platonically.)
