Thea Nott, now aged 11, woke up with a smile on her birthday. As usual, she hoped she was awake before her father and quietly rushed down to the kitchen.

"Good morning Mistress Nott." One of the House Elves greeted her with a little bow.

"Tinky, I've told you to call me Thea when we're alone." Thea replied shaking her head. The small elf nodded with a shy smile and continued her business.

"Mail for you Miss Thea." Chorky, another House Elf stated as he handed out a letter to the girl. Thea looked at the letter with a huge smile and turned it around to see it had the Hogwarts seal on the back.

"Dear Miss Nott, we are pleased to inform you that you have a place at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Please find enclosed a list of all necessary books and equipment. Term begins on 1 September. We await your owl by no later than 31 July. Yours sincerely, Minerva McGonagall, Deputy Headmistress." Thea read out loud in a single breath and squealed in delight. "Almost a year and them I'm off to Hogwarts!" She sighed and gently folded the letter.

She couldn't wait to get away from her father. Ever since her mother's passing, he became more involved in their lives, trying to raise them with a specific set of opinions. Thea was the first one to be informed about Death Eaters and how her father was one of the first to become one and how she should be proud about that. After turning seven, Theo was educated next. Their father would lecture them about blood purity and what it meant to be a member of the Sacred Twenty Eight. He would talk about how he was a classmate of their "great" Dark Lord and how he disappeared. Thea of course didn't care about those things but she could see her brother listening intently to the lectures. Around the time the lectures started, her father's friend would come over more frequently with his son, Draco. He too, like Theo was starting to believe everything their fathers believed in and Thea grew more frustrated each day. Thea shook herself back to reality as she heard footsteps coming closer to the kitchen. She ushered the elves away knowing from the loudness of the steps that it was her father approaching them.

"Good morning, father." She greeted him as she put her letter back in its envelope. His father gave her a curt nod in reply and picked up the Daily Prophet as he sat down.

"What have you got there?" He quirked an eyebrow seeing she was toying with something in her hands.

"Look, father. My Hogwarts letter came in today." She replied showing off the letter with a small smile.

"Well, that isn't needed. You aren't going to Hogwarts." He replied going back to reading his newspaper. Thea felt her throat tighten at his words. Surely she had heard him wrong, how could she not attend Hogwarts. She was a with after all.

"Excuse me, father. Perhaps I'm mistaken but I thought I would attend Hogwarts like you and mother." She shyly stated not wanting to anger the elderly man in front of her.

"Of course you are mistaken, silly girl. You are going to Durmstrang Institute. No mudbloods are allowed and they have a far more sensible line about the Dark Arts." Mr. Nott shot back with a proud look whereas Thea was struggling to hold back her tears. "Your brother and Draco will join you there when their time comes."
